About this Product

This charming wooden bear is part of the Itty Bitty Animals Collection. Each piece is carefully handmade, freestanding, and designed for easy stacking. Crafted from unfinished wood using traditional woodworking tools, the bear is sanded smooth for a flawless finish—perfect for painting or personalizing. Proudly made in America, it can be stacked with other animal toys for imaginative play or display. This wooden bear makes a thoughtful gift for children who love animals and pretend play. My own grandchildren adore these toys!

This bear is thoughtfully crafted from repurposed wood scraps, making each piece both eco-friendly and unique. While the wood's thickness may vary slightly, it is always at least 0.5 inches for durability. The color and grain of each bear will vary based on the selected wood, adding to its individual charm. If you prefer a specific type of wood, please reach out—custom orders are always welcome!

Approximate size:

  • Length: 1.5 inches

  • Height: 2.1 inches

  • Width: 1/2-3/4-inch

Every item I make is handcrafted from natural wood, ensuring that no two pieces are exactly alike. Variations in color, grain, and shape make each creation truly one-of-a-kind. Your bear may look slightly different from the one shown in the listing photos, and the wood thickness may vary slightly from the specified dimensions. These differences attest to its handmade character.

Please note that natural variations in wood grain, color, and knots make every piece unique, enhancing its character and charm. These differences are part of what makes each item special and should be embraced, not seen as flaws. If you would like a specific look or size, or have questions about the variations, feel free to reach out before ordering—I'm happy to accommodate your preferences whenever possible.

Meet the Maker

I am a 20-year USAF veteran, during which time I worked in air defense as a radar technician and later as a technical inspector. After leaving the Air Force, I had a second career and retired after 28 years as a Systems Programmer/Linux Administrator.

I am 73 and have been making things from wood since childhood. I make and sell wooden toys, ornaments, puzzles, clocks, fretwork, scrollsaw art, baskets, small animal cutouts, custom orders, and anything that catches my attention. Some of my best ideas have come from customers.

I have an eclectic taste in music. I like some of every kind of music, but I am particularly fond of blues guitar. I am a competition shooter and regularly shoot in Smallbore Rifle and Pistol Silhouette matches and Steel Challenge. I like to pretend I can play the guitar.

I have two grandchildren, my grandson Odin and my granddaughter River.

How it’s Made

These toy animal cutouts are made by me in my shop using traditional woodworking tools and techniques. The animals are cut on a scroll saw from cut-offs from other projects that would be wasted if I didn't use them. Some animals are cut from new wood if there is a high demand for them, and no cut-offs are available.
