How It’s Made: Solid Pine Mountain Coat Hangers
At River Flow Woodworking, each Solid Pine Mountain Coat Hanger begins as a raw piece of 1-inch thick solid pine—chosen for its durability, character, and the unique beauty found only in natural wood. Our process starts by selecting boards with rich grain patterns and warm tones, ensuring that every hanger carries its own one-of-a-kind identity straight from the forest.
Once selected, the pine is cut into individual blocks and then hand-shaped into bold mountain peaks, standing 9½ inches tall and 5 inches wide at the base. We draw the silhouette of each rugged peak by hand, giving every hanger its own distinct contour—no laser cutting or mass production here. Just careful craftsmanship, inspired by the outdoors.
The next step is sanding—lots of it. Each piece is hand-sanded to smooth the edges while still keeping the natural feel of real wood. We take pride in maintaining the integrity of the pine, allowing its organic texture to show through without sacrificing a comfortable, polished touch.
After shaping and sanding, the wood is finished with a protective, non-toxic sealant that brings out the grain’s richness and helps it stand up to everyday use.
