American Flag With Veteran Art Burned Into Wood & Hand Painted Fifty Star Union - 21" x 11"

Even though some may be similar no two flags are identical, we consider each piece a work of individual art. We first select and cut each of the 16 pieces it takes to make a flag, then we inspect and place each piece to optimize the natural beauty of the wood grain and imperfections. Dry assembly is the next step by pressing the wood together in a custom made clamp and screwing them together with a total of 39 screws. The flag is then sanded THREE times starting with a coarse grit, then medium and finally a fine grit sand paper giving the flag a smooth finish and defining the wood grain's natural beauty.

The union is lightly marked out to aid in the layout of the chosen art to be burned into the wood. Using homemade stencils we apply a scorching paste to the flag and after drying we apply heat to the paste to burn the artwork into the flag. After that, we disassemble the flag and use a torch to strategically burn each piece of wood once again bringing out the natural beauty of the wood grain. The next step is to wipe down each piece with a cloth to smooth out and remove any loose char.

Now the fun part, we stain 13 of the 16 pieces either red, white or blue and let thoroughly dry. Once the stain is dry, we again assemble the flag using our custom clamp, 39 screws and high quality waterproof glue. When we pull the flag from the clamp we finally get to see the beauty we've created in all it's glory...oh but we aren't finished yet. Next we either carve in the union stars by HAND or hand paint them using stencils. To finish off the art piece we apply 2-3 coats of indoor/outdoor glossy spar urethane which provides UV protection for years to come. Last but not least, we install two "D" hooks and wire so your flag will be ready to hang as soon as it arrives.
