Welcome to our shop! Here’s a glimpse into how we craft our beautiful cedar ring stands:
Tree Selection and Cutting: We start by hand-picking the perfect cedar trees, ensuring they meet our quality standards. After carefully cutting the trees, we bring them into our workshop to begin the transformation.
Wood Drying: The cedar logs are then dried to perfection. We use a combination of air-drying and kiln-drying methods to ensure the wood is stable and free from cracks, ready for crafting.
Cutting the Stands: Once the wood is thoroughly dried, we cut it into the shapes needed for our ring stands. This involves slicing sections from the logs and shaping them into the base and support components with precision.
Sanding: Our team meticulously sands each stand using a range of sandpapers. We start with a coarser grit to smooth out any major imperfections and finish with finer grits to achieve a silky-smooth surface.
Laser Engraving: To personalize each ring stand, we use our state-of-the-art laser engraver. We carefully etch names and designs into the wood, adding a distinctive touch that makes each stand unique.
Drilling for Dowels: We measure and mark the exact locations for dowels on each stand. Our skilled technicians drill precise holes, ensuring a perfect fit for the dowels and a stable final product.
Staining: We apply a rich wood stain to enhance the cedar’s natural color and grain. Our team follows detailed instructions to ensure an even application and allow the stain to penetrate deeply, bringing out the wood’s beauty.
Gluing Dowels: Dowels are carefully glued into the pre-drilled holes. We ensure each dowel is firmly secured and allow the glue to set thoroughly before moving on.
Finishing Touches: We complete each stand with three coats of high-quality polyurethane. This protective finish adds durability and a glossy sheen. We apply each coat evenly, sanding lightly between coats for a flawless final finish.
