Meet the Maker
Thanks for stopping by. My name is Felicia, I am originally from California. While serving in the US Air Force I lived in Mississippi, Missouri, Turkey, then ended up making Oklahoma my home.
I remember being mesmerized watching a PBS special on glassblowing when I was 8 years old. Decades later I found myself at a glassblowing studio watching my son and his cousin make Christmas ornaments, I was absolutely in awe.
I couldn’t stop talking about glassblowing, a couple years later I was given an intro lesson for Christmas. As I walked into the studio for my first lesson, I noticed a sign that explained that cremation ashes were used to make the beautiful orbs that sat on the shelf. Having recently lost my younger sister in a motorcycle accident, it was easy to see how special this was. I told myself I would one day make something like this for our father. After countless hours of gathering 2100 degree molten glass out of a furnace, reheating in a 2400 degree glory hole, blowing, shaping and coaxing glass into vases, birds, seashells, and various other things, I knew it was finally time to make a piece celebrating my sister’s life.
I have made several orbs and vases containing cremains of people’s loved ones and pets. Seeing how these memorial pieces have helped people with their grief has been most humbling.
How it’s Made
I love making these wildly unique swing vases, inspired by the MCM swung vases.
After gathering molten glass that is around 2100 degrees, color is applied, starter bubble is created and more glass is gathered.
The best part about these vases is the swing! It’s such a crazy thought - swinging a long pipe with glass on the end hoping it doesn’t go flying off.
While most hand blown vases openings are opened and shaped using tools, once this vase is transferred from the blowpipe to the punty, tools are not used on the piece. The neck and opening are left in the hands of gravity and the glass gods.
As all hand blown glass, this piece is one of a kind.

The exact color is not guaranteed, color might have slight variations due to the cremains and heat, if I am not sure the color will be compatible with the cremains, I will do a small test first using cremains (ashes of a dog donated to me for this purpose) to ensure you will be happy with the outcome.
