Hello everyone! Welcome to YAY NOVELTY. Founded in 2014 by me, Sunchea Phou, a Cambodian genocide survivor, "YAY" in YAY NOVELTY stands for WHY and WHY, and symbolizes the essence and purpose behind my brand.

My journey began in Montreal after emigrating from a refugee camp, where I started working in a sweatshop at the age of just 12. By 20, I had sewn over a million garments and dedicated 30 years to the garment industry. In 2012, I made the pivotal decision to leave the corporate world and launch my own business, with the goal of making a positive impact on both the environment and the well-being of people.
As a one-person operation, I craft the wallets and lip balm holders myself. The remaining products are designed and developed by me, while my team and contractors handle production due to the need for specialized machinery.
