This slotted sides of this candle holder allow the light to spill from the sides, giving a soothing glow. The unique color and grain of the hackberry sets this piece apart. It has a contrasting walnut inlay on one side.
Includes 2 flickering LED candles. Holes are 1.5" wide and 1.75" deep if you want to use your own candles.

I inherited my mom's craftiness, and I get a lot of joy from making things!
My current crafty focus is on woodworking and painting. Bringing the two together is especially satisfying. I love making fine woodworking pieces, but I don't shy away from throwing together something rustic using reclaimed wood.
Seasonal items are fun because they give me something new to play with all the time. I can always look forward to the next season if I'm caught in the doldrums. Creating something lovely and useful is my favorite. But it's also nice to just make something pretty.
If you like the style of something but prefer a different color scheme, please don't hesitate to reach out. Custom orders will take more time. But it's worth it to wait a little while for the perfect piece!
How it’s Made
The hackberry came from Atlanta Wood Foundation, whose mission is to save trees from the landfill. They take trees that have fallen or been cut down, and they turn them into lumber instead of being wasted as wood chips or trash. I've never seen hackberry available anywhere else.
I love the unique color of the hackberry, with its gray tones and wide range of light and dark. The grain almost looks like a digital print.
The walnut inlay is for contrast as well as structural integrity. The wood had a crack, and I decided a contrasting inlay was better than filling the crack with glue. The finish is a simple cutting board butter made of mineral oil and beeswax.
