This beautiful Turquoise and Green Venia Ethnic Design poncho is made by hand from habotai silk which flows and moves gracefully with the body. Not only can this garment be worn as a poncho, but it can also be scrunched to be worn as a scarf around your neck for warmth and elegant style. The design patterns are created using shibori techniques to include pleating and tightly binding with string. Procion dyes are used to create the luscious shades of of color. It measures 44"X 44" ( 22" in front and back).

Hello! My name is Luvenia Humphrey. I love all things art and I especially love wearing art. That's why I created Venia Ethnic Designs where I get to create elegant "art to wear" for the free spirited individual. I create each unique garment from beginning to end which includes choosing the fabric, the dyes, creating the designs on the fabric, and sewing the finished piece. My designs are one of a kind and made one at a time by the creator herself, me, Venia! Luscious beautiful colors and designs are what I love! Only natural fiber fabrics such as silk, rayon, linen, and cotton are used to create the majority of my fashions. Beautiful polyester fabrics are utilized as well for some items. My cocoon jackets, shawls, kimonos and ponchos are made from natural fibers and are hand dyed and, as with all of my creations, hand stitched. My hand dyed garments are dyed using ancient African and Japanese techniques to produce vibrant colors and stunning patterns. This garment can be dry cleaned, or hand washed in cold water with mild soap ( Blue Dawn dish washing liquid, or a few drops of shampoo. Do not use Woolite.) Silk is very delicate so do not scrub, wring or twist while washing. After washing, gently roll up in a towel to take out the rest of the water. Do not wring. Hang until slightly damp, then iron while damp,(no Steam), on silk setting.
