About this Product

HANDMADE IN THE USA
A perfect Spring and Summer Hat!
So unique and special. Handmade in the USA with love, care and attention to detail.

The Eleanor Cloche, straight from the roaring 1920's and 30's. Reminiscent of the hats worn on Downton Abbey by the wonderful Flapper ladies.
Take this lovely creation through spring into summer and protect yourself from the sun.

This elegant hat has so many uses. Effortlessly takes you to garden parties, the races, weddings, or just a walk along the beach! Providing smart and stylish shade from the sun.

A perfect elegant head cover for anyone undergoing chemo therapy or suffering hair loss.

This cloche sits deep on the head as is the style of the cloche hat and is finished with a wide brim which narrows into the back. The brim can be turned up in varying degrees for sun protection and or activity.

Handmade in linen, this Eleanor is finished with a unique handmade hydrangea petal brooch. It is made with an abundance of hand sculpted linen petals. Each petal is carefully cut from the same linen as the hat. The brooch can be removed and worn elsewhere or switched out with something else, to change up the look of your hat.

The brooch you will receive will be a close representation of the one you see here, yours will be unique to your hat.

Fully lined in a soft cotton for both quality and comfort.

I can happily make this hat for you in another color or fabric. Please let me know and we can create something special just for you.

A hat isn't just about fashion, though the bespoke hats found here at Boston Millinery are the height of vintage style, it's about how you feel.
It's about finding that finishing touch that make the corners of your lips uptick into a smile that shares your confidence and creativity.

Ready to smile in the mirror with your own bespoke hat? Please contact me and we'll make something special, together.

Scheduled to ship 1-3 weeks after purchase. If you need something in a hurry please don't hesitate to contact me.
Your lovely hat arrives in a handmade hat bag, ships via USPS and is insured from our studio to your door.

To maintain the original finishing of this hat I recommend it be Dry Clean Only.

HOW DO YOU MEASURE YOUR HEAD?
Take a measuring tape and wrap it around your head just above your eyebrows and over your ears. Make sure the tape lies over the fullest part of the back of the head and do not pull the tape any tighter than you would want a hat to feel during wear.

SIZE Small: 22 1/2"
SIZE Medium: 23"
SIZE Large: 24"

Please be sure to take this measurement 2 or 3 times to ensure an accurate measurement. If in doubt always size up and never size down. If you have any concerns please contact me. No head too big or too small and custom sizing is always available.

By purchasing handmade items from my shop you are supporting an independent artist. Thank you!

Meet the Maker

The first hat I ever made was about 30 years ago, for a friend of mine as a gift for her sister who was undergoing treatment for Leukemia.........

The joy this hat brought to her, to feel feminine again after losing her hair, touched my heart. After that, a love of making hats was born in me.
I've always been crafty, taught to sew by my Mum. I can still remember the smell of the small, local fabric shop in middle England, all those years ago, where we were regular customers. It was better than visiting the sweet shop! I had and still have an avid interest in anything artsy, crafty, and addiction to fabrics! One look at a certain fabric and the creative juices start flowing.

I was born, raised, and educated in the U.K. I studied as a fashion student, which gave me a good introduction to Millinery, the art of hat making.
I am now an Ex-Pat and Mum of two energetic and inspiring children, living in New England! This inspires me to cater to the seasons. From sun protection in the summer and year-round to toasty ears in the winter. Supplying hats to a Global market I cater to all occasions and all seasons, year-round.

The original name of my business, “The Waughdrobe” now known as “Boston Millinery” began back in 2009 as a perfect opportunity to have a "storefront" for all the creations realized and also those buzzing around in my head. It also gave me the opportunity, and my children the benefit, of a stay-at-home parent. I am positively enjoying the beauty of being able to do both.

Thank you for taking the time to peruse my creations. Whether it’s a hat to keep your head warm and stylish, a headcover after hair loss, a modesty head cover, or a hat to compliment your dress on your wedding day; making you happy, makes me happy!

Please contact me and let's custom make your next wonderful hat together!
