Correct tamping is one of the hardest parts of making the perfect espresso. tamping is also hard to do physically for me. Both of these are eliminated for me by using this tamper. It fits a range of 51-58mm (whatever you want to call it) portafilters common to many espresso machines. The lever functions to multiply your strength resulting in a near effort free tamping. The wide base has a lip to keep spilled grounds off your counter and gives it better stability. This is ideal for people new to the art of espresso tamping or those with strength/grip issues
