How it All began

Alexa Martha, immigrated from abroad, born of a German jewelry-making family. She grew up in her father's business and learned to be around tools from a very early age. This grew a fire in her to do something creative in life with metal and gemstones and so she became a goldsmith/jewelry designer with journeyman 's degree. Years after Alexa had met her American soulmate Timothy and had started a little family in the Black Forrest. Then they transplanted to his home Montana.

Alexa Martha Designs is a small home-based jewelry business in Montana that features handmade artisan jewelry. Truly unique purposeful designs made with exceptional craftsmanship. After their second child went to school, Alexa started back making jewelry with the tools she had brought with her from the old country and simple materials. First she started selling on local markets and fairs. After many years of building up her business, Lexi Butler Designs was finally launched as an online only business. Discover the incredible story of Alexa Martha Butler, a 'Montana Made' featured designer whose designs have graced Celebs like Maisie Williams from Game of Thrones and Molly Ringwald from Riverdale. In 2018 I was featured on the News for the art of wire sculpting in a segment called Montana Made. After a Spiritual awakening, it was renamed as Alexa Martha Designs. Which then took off like a wild fire with a fueling passion behind it.

How it’s Made

This bangle is made from a 6 gauge copper rod. I taper the ends with a chasing hammer. Then I hammer the the tapered ends and give them a ruff pattern. Then I send everything with three types of sanding blocks. Then I hand sculpt the rod around a gig into a somewhat round bangle. Then I take my pliers and shape the bangle by hand into a mostly round bangle. During the whole process, the bangle does not get annealed. Then I take the bangle and hammer it on the face side to receive the canted angle. Then I triple-sand that as well so everything is smooth. Then I put the bangle in the tumbler for 1 hour. then I wax the bangle with renaissance wax so it will stay shiny for a long time.
