Hi, I’m Paula Bowers! I’ve been creating pottery for over 12 years, drawing inspiration from the rich history of South Carolina ceramics, the natural beauty of our family farm, and the music that moves me.
My work is all about joy—whimsical, functional pieces designed to be used and loved every day, yet crafted with the care and quality to last a lifetime.
How it’s Made
This mug is built from hand-rolled clay slabs and textured with custom rollers to create the swirling skies and golden terrain. The van is sculpted and attached with careful detail — from its cheerful red body to its retro charm. The words “and I will travel” are hand-carved into the clay before the first bisque firing.
Once bisqued, it’s hand-painted with bright, layered glazes to bring out the warmth of the scene. A final glaze firing seals everything in, making it food-safe, microwaveable, and ready for adventure.
