Meet the Maker
Hello and welcome! I’m Evelyn Goldman (she/her), the artist behind Romance and Mishegoss.
My art is all about storytelling, tradition, and joy. I create papercut art that weaves together Jewish heritage, personal meaning, and communal celebration. Every design starts with a hand-drawn sketch, which I digitize and cut with a machine—but the magic really happens in the finishing touches I do by hand. I use eco-friendly, archival materials to make art that is both rooted in tradition and alive in the present.
You can also find my pieces at the Museum of the Southern Jewish Experience in New Orleans.

How it’s Made
This design was inspired by one of the most beloved lines in Jewish text: Ani L’Dodi V’Dodi Li. I created it with care and intention, blending natural imagery—two herons standing in still water—with sacred words from Song of Songs to symbolize peace, commitment, and beauty. Each piece is machine cut from high-quality, acid-free cardstock, then carefully hand-finished to ensure clean lines and strong details. It's a labor of love made to celebrate love.
