Amethyst is a purple stone, known as a “Gem of Fire” by ancient cultures. It was greatly sought after throughout history and at times valued as highly as Diamonds. Today, this semi-precious variety of quartz is found in many locations around the world. The presence of Manganese in the stone produces the purple hue, and variation of the amount of iron in the stone creates a color range from reddish purple to deep violet to light lilac. The name derives from the Greek word for “not intoxicated” and was once believed to prevent drunkenness and overindulgence.
Chakra: Third Eye, Crown

Distorted Earth
Meet the Maker
Hi! My name is Brandy Kamenski. I have been making jewelry since I was a teen. When I became a mother in 2009 at 25 years old I started trying to find a way to support my family financially and still be a stay at home mom. I tried a few different things and quickly learned that I was pretty good with selling things online. I've always been creative and have dabbled in many different crafts. I have had a few different online businesses. Some were successful and some not so much. While I enjoy creating in general, One of my favorite things to do is make wire wrapped rings with stones. I am absolutely obsessed with rocks and love nature. Making and selling my jewelry combines many of the things that I love. Nature, crafting, learning and most of all being home to experience life with my family. I started Distorted Earth in 2010 on Etsy and am still at it. I have started and let go of many other projects since then but Distorted Earth never goes anywhere and hopefully never will.
I was so excited when I found out about GoImagine. I have always wanted to find a way to use my craft to support a good cause and make a difference in the world even if only in a tiny way. Knowing that the sales I make here aren't just helping my children but other children as well is a really big motivation to keep going. There are times when I feel like I should get a "real job" where I have a guaranteed paycheck every week and don't have to worry about times when sales a few and far between. Sales can be unpredictable. There are good times and slow times but It is really what I want to do and I am grateful for a platform like Goimagine that can help me keep doing it.
