I love reading a good Summer Novel at the beach! There is something so relaxing about sitting under an umbrella, reading a book with the waves and gulls singing their sweet seaside songs while I get lost in my book. I usually paint with a lot of detail, but I painted this in a very simple style with very little detail, just blocks of color. To me, this style depicts how a person gets absorbed into their book and everything around them is simplified. They aren't paying attention to the details of the beach, waves or sand. They are totally focused on the "beach read."
