Meet the Maker

Following my dream, my husband and I moved to Montana to live among the wildlife and Rocky Mountains that I love to paint. Now I am enjoying living and painting in the beautiful Bitterroot Valley of Northwestern Montana, where the inspiration and subject matter for my paintings surround me. Along with my art, we opened a Vacation Cabin rental business with three adorable cabins. It’s called Wilderness Spirit Cabins and a great place to come and vacation and enjoy the spectacular view our cabins have. (Website is www.wildernessspiritcabins.com) You can come see the view that inspires my paintings. I have my art studio located in the lower level of our log home and my paintings decorate the three cabins we rent out to vacationers. So it’s like having three mini galleries to display and sell my art.  My art specialty is in the media of watercolor but I also love to paint with acrylics on Christmas ornaments, leather and feathers. The artwork items that I offer for sale on my Etsy store are different passions of mine that I love to make, paint and share with you.

For my background, I grew up being very artistic. It’s how my dad kept me quiet as a little girl while in church services. He would bring along pencils and magic markers and hand them to me and I would sit and draw. The influence and encouragement of a Junior High school art teacher got me going on wanting a career as an artist. Being accepted by the Art Instruction School’s “Draw Me” contest, into the Art Instruction School, got me started in the basics and beginning of becoming a professional artist. After graduation from high school, I attended and graduated from Rocky Mountain College of Art and Design in Denver Colorado. Upon graduation, I embarked on my art career by freelancing in the commercial art arena and doing hand-painted signs, logo design, illustrations and also courtroom sketches for the local television stations where I moved back to, in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia where I grew up.  But my heart stayed in the west and with my passion of painting. So eventually, I started concentrating on the fine art of watercolor. Which is what I specialize in currently.

I offer giclee reproductions of my original paintings as well as some of the originals in my store. But I also offer my other artwork I enjoy doing, such as the custom hand painted ornaments of your pets, the hand painted feathers, and rustic hand painted signs which I paint with acrylic paints. Since I am an avid animal lover, I have four cats and one dog myself, I also love to do custom commissioned pet portraits for customers of their pets. I offer the pet portraits in the media of watercolor and just discovered and started painting on the new watercolor canvas. The watercolor is sprayed with a fixative that gives one the ability to hang the canvas like an oil or acrylic without matboard and under glass framing. I love this new way of presenting watercolors. Saves the customer the expense of framing. Also new to my inventory, is the pet portrait as a mini painting which is perfect for those that can’t afford a bigger more expensive portrait of their pet. It is an acrylic painting on a 4”x4” canvas and can come with a mini easel to display your pet portrait. It makes a perfect memorial to your precious pet or as a gift for your friend or family member. All I need is a photo of your pet-dog, cat, horse, whatever it is, and I will paint it.
Thank you for checking out my Goimagine store and my artwork and if you have any questions or comments about what I do, please feel free to message me. I am able to do commissioned paintings of a special photograph for you as well. Enjoy looking and Thank you!

How it’s Made

The title is "Beary Picking" and its an original watercolor wildlife painting of a bear sitting in the berry patch up in the Rocky Mountains, picking berries for his meal. I was up on "Going to the Sun" road up in Glacier National Park in Montana, when a bear walked in front of our vehicle and crossed the road and went into the patch of berries to eat. I was able to get some good photos without him even realizing we were there safely in our vehicle watching him. Painted in watercolors on watercolor paper. Once the order is placed and if the framing is chosen, I will mat with an archival matboard and frame it under glass or plexiglass in a wood frame. I will put a hanging wire on the back so it is ready to hang when received.
