Beautifully Acid Enameled Recycled Fine Silver Flower Dangle Earrings
Richly colored with a strong organic character, these dangle earrings were made from a melt of antique .999/1000 fine silver tableware that we rolled into a bar, cut into teardrops, enameled with a scattering of brightly colored flowers over a base of grass green enamel and treated the enameling with an acid bath to create an unusual craggy surface. Suspended from hand made sterling silver ear wires, the earrings measure approximately 1 3/4-inches long overall with 1 x 9/16-inch dangles and weigh a combined 6.3 grams. The backs were "counter enameled" in blue, a process that strengthens and promotes the longevity of the front enameling. The earrings are coated in Renaissance wax to preserve the enamel luster and resist the natural oxidization of silver over time. These are available in virtually any size - please inquire!

How it’s Made
All of our jewelry is handmade using sustainable practices including melting of broken or obsolete gold and silver objects, the use of natural and/or recycled fabrication, stationery and shipping materials whenever possible and recycling of previously used or collected gemstones. By design and the processes of melting, hammer-forging and/or rolling the metals we use, our jewelry is more substantial in mass and weight than most commercially made jewelry (that's why we include gram weights in all of our listings). Please note that due to vagaries inherent in this process, each piece is unique in some respect(s), and custom orders will reflect this in slight differences in hammering and other tooling marks, depth of oxidization and etc.
