Meet the Maker

Hi everyone!

welcome to my shop :) It's taken me quite a while to get to this point - we finally made it!  My love for crafting goes way back to my childhood and i'm so happy to be back in crafting world.

Who would've thought it would be my mental health that would drive me back to my hobbies?!  Life has thrown many curve balls my way in the past several years, but 2021 seemed exceptionally difficult for me.  I promised myself, and my two beautiful kids, that I will persevere and find my happy place again - that happy place ended up being in my hobbies: crafting/designing/creating/etc.

So we started 2022 with a BANG and became the family of creations and art and all things crafts.  I quickly dove headfirst into jewelry making as I already knew what I was doing from selling handmade jewelry when I was younger.  This led me down the rabbit hole of resin art - all things resin from tumblers to key chains to coasters and bookmarks.  Resin art then opened my eyes to acrylic paint designs and hydro dipping.  Before I knew it, I had become fully immersed and had an ever growing inventory of a plethora of things.

2023 rolled around way too fast so...I finally decided to step out of my comfort zone and start an online store - EEK! I really wanted to incorporate my kids in my shop name so "1418" was born - my son was born in 2014 and my daughter 2018.  "Made Unseen" comes from the fact I continue to do everything behind the scenes - i'm reserved and humble, I hold things close to my heart, I feel like I like to be "unseen" so this name just spoke to me :) My shop is set apart from so many others in that I don't personalize anything I make nor do I mass produce or duplicate anything (except a variation here or there maybe).  I enjoy creating something for the first time and then immediately trying a new idea rather than re-creating what I just made.

Thanks for supporting me :)

How it’s Made

These koozie/can-coolers are created with hydro-dip art - this technique is done by carefully dipping a prepped stainless steel koozie into water covered in several layers of hand selected paints resulting in a "wrapped" design.  Once completely dry, the design is sealed with FDA-approved acrylic sealant.  The sealant is then followed up with several layers of FDA-approved epoxy resin creating a beautiful and vibrant smooth glossy finish. This process in total takes about 5-7 days.
