About this Product

Ah, the humble yet magnificent beeswax votive candle! Let's embark on a journey from the hive to the heart of your home, shall we?

Beeswax Votive Candles: Nature's Luminous Art

Imagine this: each beeswax votive candle begins its life in the bustling, honeyed world of a beehive, where bees, in their industrious dance of life, transform nectar into wax. This wax is not just any ordinary wax; it's a golden treasure, rich with the essence of blossoms and sunlight.

The Color: Beeswax votive candles boast a spectrum from creamy ivory to deep honey amber. This natural hue shifts with the floral diet of the bees, offering a candle that's not just a light source but a piece of living art, a testament to the seasons and the landscapes from whence they came.

The Scent: Unlike their paraffin counterparts, beeswax candles emit a subtle, sweet aroma reminiscent of a spring meadow in full bloom or a warm, cozy hive. This scent isn't overpowering; it's a gentle whisper, evoking memories of nature's tranquility.

Why Beeswax Votive Candles?

At Beeswax Votive, we've chosen to specialize in beeswax votive candles for a bouquet of reasons, each as rich and deep as the golden wax we work with:

The Purity of Beeswax

Natural and Pure: Beeswax is one of nature's purest substances. It's hypoallergenic, making it ideal for those with sensitivities or allergies, unlike paraffin candles that can emit toxins.

Clean Burning: Beeswax candles burn cleaner than most other types, with no soot or harmful byproducts, which keeps your indoor air quality pristine.

How it’s Made

Let's delve into the fascinating journey of how beeswax votives come to be, from the hive to your home:

Step 1: Harvesting Beeswax

Beekeeping: It all starts with beekeepers tending to their hives. Bees produce wax by converting the sugar from honey into wax scales through special glands in their abdomen. These scales are then chewed and molded into the honeycomb structure.

Harvesting: Beekeepers carefully remove the wax caps from the honeycomb, typically during honey extraction. This wax is then cleaned of honey and impurities, often by melting it down.

Purification: The raw beeswax might be strained or filtered to remove propolis, pollen, and other debris, ensuring a high-quality wax. Sometimes, it's bleached or scented, though for votives, many prefer the natural, unbleached look and scent.

Step 2: Preparing the Wax

Melting: The cleaned beeswax is melted down, usually at temperatures around 60-70°C (140-160°F), to ensure it's liquid enough to work with but not hot enough to degrade the wax.

Mixing: If any other materials are to be added, like dyes or essential oils for scent, they're mixed into the melted wax while it's hot. However, for votives, the natural wax color and fragrance are often preferred.

Step 3: Molding the Votives

Mold Selection: Votives are typically cast in small, cup-shaped molds. These can be reusable silicone or metal molds, or disposable paper ones.

Wicking: A pre-tabbed wick, where a metal or wooden base secures the wick in place, is placed centrally in the mold. The wick's length should be appropriate for the votive's size to ensure a proper burn.

Pouring: The melted beeswax is carefully poured into the molds around the wick. Temperature control is key here; too hot, and the wax could shrink too much upon cooling; too cool, and it might not fill the mold properly.

Setting: The wax is left to cool and harden. This process can take several hours, depending on the size of the votives and ambient temperature.
