About this Product
This mineral is found in Crow Wing County, Minnesota and is known by the names Binghamite,Silkstone and Cuyunite. This buckle is formed in the bevel edge design and the stone is supported with my handmade German Silver backing . The backing is signed and dated along with the stones name. This buckle will accept a belt up to 1 1/4" in width and it measures 2" 3/4" by 1 3/4" and is approx. 1/4'" in thickness. Note that German Silver is not silver but an alloy comprised of nickle ,brass and zinc. The reasons that I choose to use it is because it's stronger, less expensive and it doesn't tarnish as does silver.

How it’s Made
I have been making my buckles for approximately 45 years. I cut shape and polish all my pieces and fabricate my belt buckle backings using German silver or as it's also called nickle silver. German silver is not silver but an alloy comprised of nickle, brass, and zinc and I use it because it is stronger, less expensive and it doesn't tarnish as does silver. All my buckles take around 20 different steps to complete and the one's with silver insets take many more steps.
