January, Garnet:

The strong and majestic Jepta is a fierce protector. A single beast will protect a family for generations, north of external and internal threats. Because of its watchful eye, long life and wisdom they are often the mark of a righteous family.

February, Amethyst:

Valspari are great warriors of the sky

Cunning and nimble they occasionally partner fighters they find worthy and form epic armies

March, Aquamarine:

Found off of oft forgotten islands, the Ottarka dredges the most dangerous caves, shipwrecks and even the occasional flooded city - taking the treasures they find back to their nests.

April, Diamond:

Deep underground lives a rare fuzzy beast with long curved horns, the Yaole. Though hard to find once they find an individual they work well with they will be hard pressed to leave the service and companionship of those they choose.

May, Emerald

In the darkest forests, where the sun breaks through just enough for the flowers to grow you can often find a creature. No bigger than a child’s stuffed animal the vibrant Galivog is shy but curious, and often finds trouble in unexpected ways.

June, Pearl:

The Hummingwhal is a unique creature in it flies and swims equally well. Found in quiet mediterranean type seaside villages they are considered good luck when you see them.

July, Ruby:

The pegallamacorn’s wool surpasses that of both the llama and alpaca. They are also particularly useful as they can fly their wool and other merchandise around the world for the merchants. However, they are known to spit acid when angry.

August, Peridot:

Valaticus Glumpus are fantastic pets. Amusing to watch and friendly with nearly all. They are particularly clean characters who keep themselves and their habitats particularly clean.

September, Sapphire

In the oldest parts of the world where only traces of ancient civilizations remain there is a noble beast. A king of beasts, is the Sapphostag, a crown like antlers, and teeth like a saber, not many are brave enough to approach the surprisingly gentle creature, but many try to watch it from afar.

October, Opal:

The Pantofilio lives high in the trees, living off of fruit and insects. The creature can often be followed to know which foods are safe for human consumption, and even mixes surprisingly delicious and unexpected flavors.

November, Citrine:

Surprisingly intelligent is the Caliwagger. Finding unique, beautiful stones that even the most experienced miners have a hard time getting to… the problem is getting them to tell everyone else where they are.

December, Tanzanite

If you thought magpies and crows were bad, think again. The Gemmagabba, though adorable, has the bad habit of stealing whatever its cute little paws can get ahold of. It is rumored, that like crows, you can befriend the creatures - but it seems to be a very one sided friendship as they will not bring you anything in return, and are known to bite if you approach them empty handed

How it’s Made

I start with one of my original watercolor paintings then digitize it - leaving many of the pencil marks, and paint bleeds to keep the watercolor look, and to give it more character. I then print the design off and heat press it to the final product for you.
