About this Product

This is a superior quality black dyed house broom. It is handcrafted and hand stitched on our 150+ year old equipment. The average length is between 55-56" and spread is 9+" at base. We like to use the "+" because it varies by the user's amount of pressure applied. The handle is blackened with our custom dyes and coated with a poly to make it smoother for your hands. This listing is for a single broom, your choice of thread color. Props are not included. The broom corn is hand dyed by us, non-toxic and eco friendly. It is hand stitched, the old fashioned way, using a strong polypropylene thread that doesn't stretch. This creates a tightly stitched, superior quality house broom. This broom will last many many years with proper care. We do not use preservatives in our dyes, so fading can occur if left in sunlight. Also, do not allow this broom to get wet because the color can bleed, not likely, but always a possibility. When dying black broomcorn, achieving pure black is nearly impossible. You may notice highlights of purple or even green/bluish colors. This is a normal when dying natural fibers like broomcorn.

Now Offered with White, blue, orange, dark green, lime green, black or Red stitching. This listing is for a single broom only. No props are included. To view more vividly colored working brooms crafted by Meckley Brooms you can visit our website MeckleyBrooms.com.

Don't forget to follow us on Instagram and Facebook @meckleybrooms to see sales and new products. Thank you for visiting our listing/shop. Dye colors can and will vary between batches when using a hand dye method with natural products. We try to be true to our photo descriptions, but these are handmade/hand dyed products so slight variations should be expected on every broom crafted by Meckley Brooms.

How it’s Made

We are a 6 generational family of broom artisans, crafting brooms on original equipment purchased by the first Meckley Broom maker. It was already used when the family purchased it, making our broom machine 150+ years old! When we say "old-fashioned" superior quality, we truly mean it. They don't make them like this anymore, except by us! Now times have changed, so the brooms needed updated. Not in quality, but in color! In our shop you can find many brilliant colors in so many of our brooms. If you still prefer a traditional broom without colors, we offer those as well. Just visit our shop to see all the items we offer.

Valuable Info:  Corn Brooms are a natural fiber and should never be left in damp, humid or rainy environments.  These fiber brooms are super absorbent and will draw in moisture, leaving it susceptible to mildew if not properly cared for.  Always hang a broom!  Your broom/product may be made with our dyed broomcorn. We use environmentally safe dyes by Rit (non-toxic & vegan). For the sake of the environment and our own health, we do not use any color locking products on our broomcorn.  Therefore, a colored broom should be stored out of direct sunlight to prevent premature fading.  It is possible for bleeding to occur if gotten wet, but we haven't experienced this however, it is worth disclaiming since no color locking chemical is used.  We strive for a sustainable handmade environmentally friendly product.  Care instructions are included with your purchase.  Proper care will provide years of dutiful service.
