This premium two-piece writing set features a perfectly matched pen and letter opener, both crafted from the same block of bloodwood burl cast in silver resin. The top half of each piece shows deep, fiery chatoyance from the stabilized bloodwood burl, while the lower portion showcases swirling metallic silver resin with embedded natural texture.
The components are high-end, weighty, and polished to a mirror finish. The pen has a smooth twist mechanism and takes standard refills. The letter opener has a long, highly reflective blade with clean lines and excellent balance.
This is a one-of-a-kind set — the burl pattern and the silver cast are unique and cannot be duplicated.

Hi, I’m Chad—the craftsman behind every piece at StoneWood Designs.
I’ve been a woodworker for as long as I can remember. Whether building something practical or designing something purely for beauty, I’ve always found joy in shaping raw materials into lasting, meaningful objects. In recent years, that passion led me to the lathe—where form, texture, and purpose come together in a way that’s both meditative and endlessly creative.
From pens and bowls to holiday décor, kitchen tools, and desk accessories, everything I make starts with one thing: exceptional material. Living in Las Vegas means I have to work hard to source great wood—but I see that as a feature, not a bug. I spend hours tracking down the right pieces, often working with other small makers across the country to find sustainable, unique woods and hybrid materials. I pride myself on pairing each one perfectly with its hardware, so the design feels complete—intentional from start to finish.

How it’s Made
This set is made from a single block of Bloodwood burl that I cast in shimmering silver resin. The block is cut, drilled, tubed, and hand-turned on a wood lathe into a perfectly matched pen and letter opener. After shaping, each piece is sanded through progressively finer grits and polished to a high-gloss finish that highlights the burl figure and silver resin. Both pieces share identical resin flow and burl figuring because they were turned from the same cast, making them a true matching set.
