How it’s Made
I make my quilts from materials that are thrifted, gifted, and purchased from my favorite quilt shops, and have a big stash of fabric. Most of the quilts I make incorporate many different fabrics. To paraphrase Mabeth Oxenreider, one of my very favorite designers, why use 10 fabrics when you can use 100!
Fabrics are cotton or cotton/polyester blend and I often use thrifted or new 100% cotton sheets for the quilt backing for durability and comfort. I use Hobbs brand 80/20 cotton/polyester batting to provide lightweight warmth. Most quilts are machine-pieced and machine quilted, although a few are hand quilted. This will be specified for each individual quilt.
Unless otherwise specified, I make my quilts from start to finish in my rural Iowa home.
