About this Product

Add a touch of modern elegance to your home with this beautifully crafted blue jelly roll race quilt. Measuring 52x64 inches, this throw quilt features a stylish striped design created using 2 ½" strips of 100% cotton blue fabrics, sewn in a distinctive jelly roll race pattern. Perfect for cozying up on the couch or adding a decorative accent to your living space.

The quilt boasts a single wide medium blue swirl 100% cotton fabric backing and an 80/20 cotton-poly batting. It is machine pieced and professionally quilted on a longarm machine by me, using a meandering design with cornflower blue thread. The binding is double-fold and machine-stitched for durability.

Made in a smoke-free home, this quilt has been preshrunk and washed with “All Free and Clear” detergent to ensure colors won't run and to achieve that beautiful, crinkled look. For care, simply machine wash on a gentle cycle with cold water, and tumble dry on low heat or line dry.

The jelly roll race pattern gets its name from the unique way the fabric strips are sewn together. After joining 40-42 pieces of the jelly roll end to end, the quilter folds the 1600-plus inches of fabric and sews it along the length of the extra-long strip, creating a sound reminiscent of a race.

Perfect for blue color enthusiasts, this quilt features bold blue fabrics from various other quilt projects, making it a vibrant addition to any space. Use it on a cool night, as a decorative bed throw, or to add a cozy touch to your living room chair or couch.

Meet the Maker

Hello, my name is Amanda, and I’m delighted you stopped by my profile! I’m a proud mother of three and a grandmother to six (and counting!). With a bachelor’s degree in architectural design technology, I bring my passion for design into a variety of crafts. Inspired by my mother’s advice to try everything at least once, I’ve immersed myself in the world of creativity. I’ve been crocheting since 1978, beading since 2008, and quilting since 2011, always keeping myself and the children in my life busy with endless crafty projects. My current quilting adventure has led me to explore the captivating jelly roll quilt design. With many of my quilt designs I revel in experimenting with new techniques, color combinations, and piece arrangements, discovering fresh and exciting looks along the way. Along with several family members we create the items in this shop. Together we are the Crafthouse Quilters.

How it’s Made

Our quilts stand apart from mass-produced competitors because of the meticulous process and care that goes into each handmade piece. Every jelly roll race quilt takes approximately 10 hours to complete, a testament to the dedication and craftsmanship involved.

The journey begins with selecting the perfect fabrics from my leftover stash, which are then ironed and precisely cut into 2 1/2 inch strips. Once I have 40 strips, I trim the selvage and carefully lay them out in an aesthetically pleasing order. The strips are sewn together in a unique jelly roll race style, creating a continuous 1600-inch strip that is then folded, sewn, and cut repeatedly to form the quilt top.

This quilt top is then combined with the batting and backing to form the quilt sandwich, which is quilted on a longarm machine. The final touch is the binding, which finishes the edges and ensures durability.

Beyond crafting the quilt, I also handle the behind-the-scenes work, including photographing, listing, and marketing. Although my photos may not be professional, each one improves as I continue to learn and grow as a quilter.

By highlighting this intricate process, it's clear that our quilts are truly handmade with love and dedication, offering a unique and personal touch that manufactured products simply cannot match.

Quilting Experience

I did my first quilt in 1989. I had a difficult time quilting with 3 toddlers, so I put the quilting away until 2011. Since then, I have lost count of the numerous quilts I have made for friends, family and charity. I have enjoyed exploring many different styles of quilting and I haven't finished exploring yet.  I can't wait to find my next big thing.
