Meet the Maker

Hello!

My name is Ann Mengel and I create all of the products you see by hand. I upcycle or recycle items to make whimsical works of art. I take scratched up records or CDs and paint over them since they are no longer playable. I also paint on natural stones. I leave many of my practice rocks on trails in the area. I also bind pocket journals by hand and create new eclectic journals from well loved books. If you would like to have a custom item made just for you, please contact me. I hope my work leaves a lasting AMpression on you. Take care!

How it’s Made

This one of a kind artwork is made from an unplayable LP. It was painted with acrylic paints and a sealant to protect the artwork.

FAQs:

How do you package 7 " records for shipping?

I use parchment paper to cover the painted record to protect the artwork and prevent it from sticking to other surfaces. Parchment paper will be secured using mounting putty. Next, the record is wrapped in bubble wrap. The record is shipped in a bubble mailer to give added protection.

How do you package 12" records for shipping?

I use parchment paper to create a sleeve to protect the artwork and prevent it from sticking to other surfaces. Parchment paper will be secured using mounting putty. I use mailers specifically designed for 12 " vinyl record shipment. They are made of sturdy, thick cardboard.

How do you package CD's for shipping?

CD's come in an ultrathin, clear CD case to protect the paint from scratching and to protect the CD from sticking to other surfaces. Your CD will then be wrapped in tissue paper and shipped in a bubble mailer for additional protection.

How do you package rocks for shipping?

It will depend on the size and/or weight of the rock(s). Rocks under 16 oz. will be wrapped in tissue paper or parchment paper. They will be shipped in a bubble mailer with proper light weight bulk filler to prevent lots of movement inside the mailer. Rocks at least 16 oz or more will be shipped in a priority mail flat rate box according to their size. These rocks are wrapped in bubble wrap with light weight filler added to the box to prevent movement.

Care instructions

Records and CDs should be placed in an area that avoids direct sunlight and heat. Clean with a soft, dry cloth when needed. Painted vinyl records and CDs can no longer be played. The listing might show a record on a turntable for aesthetic purposes only.

The paint on the CD is sealed but it may scratch off with excessive handling. If you intentionally try to scratch the paint on a painted CD, it will come off. The CD comes with an ultrathin case that you can store it in when not being displayed and will prevent damages to the surface.

Rocks can be cleaned with a soft dry cloth and are meant to be displayed indooors. An additional weatherproofing sealant will be needed periodically if you are going to display rocks outside.

What is your shipping policy when purchasing multiple items?

If you purchase more than one item, they usually can be sent in the same package and shipping cost will be less.Shipping cost is determined by weight of the items to your zip code. When items are combined, I will refund over payment of shipping costs to your account.
