About this Product
Bone needle for nalbinding, tapestry weaving, or other types of yarn-work. Price is for one needle similar to those pictured.
These needles are handmade, cut from the cannonbone (lower leg) of a cow, and hand-polished to a fine, perfectly-smooth surface. They glide easily through past woolen yarns without catching. The needles are approximately 3" in length. Since they are handmade, there will be slight differences in size, shape, and color.
These needles ship USPS with tracking. I generally try to ship within two to four business days; if it looks like it may stretch to longer, I will contact you to let you know..

How it’s Made
These bones are handmade when ordered. The bone blanks are cut from a cow cannonbone, then carefully sanded to shape, before the eye is drilled and any sharp edges softened. Each needle is then hand-sanded with progressively finer grits, finishing in a burnish with steel wool.
The needles arrive quite smooth and ready for use. Nalbinding with most yarns will further polish the needles until they glow, and become as smooth as glass. A well-used nalbinding needle is an object of art in its own right!
