About this Product
Make your own broom with our products!
20" Natural and Dyed Hurl Broomcorn for sale in 8 oz (1/2 lb) bundles. Broomcorn is also known as broom corn, broom straw, broom grass. Great for the occasional/casual broom maker, crafty person, or just a curious self teaching artistic mind. Broomcorn is also being used to cover stems on bouquets for weddings or events. We offer a rainbow of colors!
We have a variety of colors available including natural. All batches of dye differ in tint because dying is not an exact science, but the colors will be in the same category of color. We use RIT dyes, so our broomcorn is non toxic, vegan and environmentally friendly. We do not use preservatives, so fading is likely over time, but even quicker with exposure to sunlight. Slight bleeding can occur if gotten wet, BUT we thoroughly rinse, so bleeding is minimal (disclaimer).
Our broomcorn is very clean! As clean as can be. I put our broomcorn through a thorough rinse cycle and additionally soak it in a white vinegar bath. While this doesn't completely prevent bleeding, your hands and lungs will stay much cleaner (RIT dyes are non-toxic) while handling, as compared to our competitors broomcorn incredibly dirty/dusty products (can't claim to know what they use as dyes, but it's not RIT).
Sold by 8 oz. Increments (1/2 lb.) A little color goes a long way. If you are a broom maker and are interested in larger quantities, please contact me directly.
Natural Black Dark Blue Royal Blue Green Kelly Green ******Gray (greenish tint right now due to fresh broomcorn) Dark Brown Cocoa Brown Red Orange Wine Pink Iridescent Purple Yellow Gray Seafoam
Shades of color can vary within a single stalk of broomcorn due to the thickness of the stalk, age of the broomcorn, heat of the dye bath, outside temperatures, and the length of the broomcorn. Honestly, it's what makes dyed colors so unique and fun. Tint or shade discrepancies are to be expected because of the hand-dyeing process. Please expect it, and I will do my best to prevent it. To see our quality of dyed broomcorn, simply search around our shop and look at our variety of handcrafted brooms. Our brooms are the best examples of our color pallet.
Unused broomcorn is non-refundable/non-returnable. We also sell 16" Broomcorn. Shop here: https://www.Meckleybrooms.com

Valuable Info: Corn Brooms are a natural fiber and should never be left in damp, humid or rainy environments. These fiber brooms are super absorbent and will draw in moisture, leaving it susceptible to mildew if not properly cared for. Always hang a broom! Your broom/product may be made with our dyed broomcorn. We use environmentally safe dyes by Rit (non-toxic & vegan). For the sake of the environment and our own health, we do not use any color locking products on our broomcorn. Therefore, a colored broom should be stored out of direct sunlight to prevent premature fading. It is possible for bleeding to occur if gotten wet, but we haven't experienced this however, it is worth disclaiming since no color locking chemical is used. We strive for a sustainable handmade environmentally friendly product. Care instructions are included with your purchase. Proper care will provide years of dutiful service.
