About this Product
This little bumble bee is visiting the peonies that are beginning to bloom. The black and white ink illustration is an original drawing that features high contrast leaves in the back ground to set off the line drawing filled with hatching and cross hatching. The total print is 15 and 3/4" tall x 12" wide. The image itself is 12 and 3/4" tall and 10" wide. This allows for a nice wide boarder for matting and framing. This piece would be a lovely piece for an avid gardener, bee lover, or black and white art fan.

The Mastiff Studios Makers Market is a collective of dedicated artisans who bring dreams to life. All of our talented makers are located in beautiful Colorado. The shop is located in Colorado Springs, and we are bringing our to treasures to you. From light bending wonders to the miniature world and beyond, we have a variety of artistic marvels to delight and amuse you.
How it’s Made
The idea for this piece came to me from a neighbor who has bees. She is trying to help our little pollinator friends save the world. I thought what she is doing is very admirable, so I created a bee hard at work. The first thing I did was to find reference photos of bees, and I watched some of the bees in my yard on the flowers. Then I found references for peonies to use in the artwork. The next step was to create several rough sketches until I found a composition that I liked. Finally, I drew a pencil image on a drawing paper then I went to work with the ink. I hope you enjoy the finished product.
