These heirloom Burgess Buttercup seeds are perfect for growing your own Burgess Buttercup squash, a truly unique and delicious variety. Known for its interesting shape and superior flavor, this squash is sweet and flaky, making it perfect for roasting and baking. We affectionately call them kabocha with belly buttons, as they resemble miniature kabocha squash with a pronounced green bump underneath.
This variety was discovered and introduced around 1932, and it has since become a favorite among squash enthusiasts. The Burgess buttercup squash differs slightly from kabocha in terms of sweetness, but its flesh is incredibly tender and almost creamy in your mouth. When you grow these seeds, you can expect them to trellis extremely well, and each vine can yield around 3-5 beautiful fruits.
