About this Product
If you ever wanted some candid photos recreated into a watercolor painting, but as chickens, you are in the right place.
Wedding photos or family shots on the camera roll, I'll work with you to make a family keepsake, but chicken-i-fide!
This artwork will be painted in watercolor on 140lb watercolor paper, then mounted onto a cradled wood canvas.
At this time, I only have 8 by 10 inch canvas available, but you can (and I encourage you to) reach out on the GoImagine platform to determine what you need.
Shoot me a message anytime and I will get back to you asap. We can discuss final size and see if your images are large enough to see the details.
Sometimes the photo is rather pixelated and I may need supplementary photos for details. I do understand sometimes that isn't possible.
I will do my utmost best to provide a wonderful illustration for your walls that will fit right in.
Please note, I don't draw you as animals other than chickens at the moment. Please respect that :)
Signature, title and date will also be written on the backside of the canvas.
Amanda Lee Art Studio
Meet the Maker
Hi all! I'm Amanda B, self-taught watercolor and mixed media artist. I usually paint pet and wild animal portraits, but I also self-indulge in chicken illustrations as well. This is on the account of 7 chickens in the backyard, and one old gal in the house. It's my niche, what can I say. Anywho~
I want to thank all who stop by and check out my wares. I greatly appreciate every little looksie and hope to work with some of you one day!
How it’s Made
This is a new technique that I learned for using watercolors on paper, then mounting onto a cradled wood canvas.
I start by cutting a watercolor sheet to roughly the size of the wood, plus about a half inch on each side. That way when I cut the paper at the end, it will be flush with the wood canvas. Then I'll paint as usual with my watercolors onto the paper sheet.
I usually let that dry and prime the cradled wood canvas with a white acrylic paint at the same time. After letting both dry, I will check my stash of acrylic paints for a nice color that goes with the painting. The next step is to paint the wood canvas's edges with that color. Either I can pick the color, or we can decide together on that. We could even leave it natural wood. Then I will seal it with either a matte or glossy sealant so the edge is sealed.
Once it is all dry, I take an acrylic matte medium and apply it to the back of the painting and the front of the canvas. Then I press the sticky sides together. By doing it quickly, I can get them to stick well. I'll place the canvas under a few books to weigh it down and make sure the seal is good. Once that is dry, I will check the edges and cut off the excess paper. The last step is to apply a thin layer of the Gamblin's cold wax to the painting itself and buff it in. This ensures I get a water resistant layer onto the paper.
I also add a wire to the back for easy hanging and two wall bumpers to protect your walls. The wire I have can hold up to 20lbs, so a bit over kill haha! Better safe than sorry I say.
