About this Product
A designer shaped Lake Superior agate shows off great orange-red colors with white banding. The bands sign off at the bottom with small white circles. You have to love how every agate is different, and the back is a very interesting cross section of tubes.
The Lake Superior agate is carefully enclosed in a handcrafted bundle of twisted gold fill and square Argentium silver wires that frame and secure the stone. The top shows the twisted wires with some interesting wire curls.
This will delight you again and again! You can wear this with either a gold or silver chain

LAKE SUPERIOR AGATES
Agates are common throughout the world. They are comprised of a microcrystalline quartz know as Chalcedony. Lake Superior Agates are found in the Keweenaw Peninsula of Michigan. They are also found in Minnesota (State Stone), Wisconsin, and all the way south to Kansas, having been transported in glacial till. "Lakers" were originally formed in air pockets in basalts around Lake Superior. Commonly rich in iron, it is not uncommon to find red and white banded beauties know as "candy stripers". Colors can range across the spectrum, and many will have unusual inclusions. No two Lake Superior Agates are ever alike, making them such a delight for rock collectors!

Meet the Maker
Do you find stones to be pretty? Interesting? Scenic? Memorable? Do you notice that each stone is different from the next one? We do too! At Snob Appeal Jewelry you will find superb wire-wrapped pendants created from Great Lakes area rocks and minerals and precious metals. We specialize in rocks and minerals of the Lake Superior region, but also offer treasured rare and unusual semiprecious stones from around the United States and the world.
Don Reed was dubbed by a customer the "Wire Wizard". After a career in Michigan law enforcement, he has turned to lapidary and wire wrapping. He studied at William Holland School of Lapidary several times, and when he found wire wrapping, he never left! He takes his work with him when he travels in his RV, his jewelry work is his passion. At art shows and around town, you'll find him telling jokes and stories. And he loves to talk rocks!
Bonnie Reed does your beading, website stuff, and office work. We both do rock hunting, rock buying, and stone jewelry selling. We've worked together for a long time!

How it’s Made
Lapidary Work
Our wire wrap pendants start with choosing high quality stones. This stone was selected out of a great many as a choice stone for you. We bought agates from an avid collector, and picked only the best!
Don has an assortment of saws, grinders, and polishing machines for the lapidary work in his shop. When the stone is cut and worked up to show off the best qualities, it is time for wire-wrapping.
Wire Work
Don uses an assortment of wire gauges, square and half-round, Argentium silver, Gold fill, and Pink Gold fill. Plus he has a bag full of tools, pliers, cutters, shaping tools, measuring aids, twisters, fine polishers...you get the idea! He practices great concentration, and has 25 years of creating jewelry behind him, plus an artistic background. The result shows in the pendants you see on this site.

Custom Orders
We are often approached about doing custom wire wrap settings and/or lapidary jobs. Don likes to do these when they fit in our schedule—feel welcome to contact us about your idea.
Shipping Policy
Our products are all ready to ship and usually mail the next day, however we guarantee mailing within 7 days. Items are carefully inspected and photographed prior to shipping for your and our protection.
We offer free shipping for orders over $50, USPS Ground Advantage. Orders under $50 have a $4.95 shipping charge. You may upgrade to small box Priority Mail for $9.95. Both Ground Advantage and Priority Mail include tracking.
We ship to the address you give us, so be sure to double check your information!
Returns/Exchanges
Almost never do we have need for this policy, but in case you do, here it is!
Satisfaction is 100% guaranteed. If there should be any problems with an order, please contact us first before returning.
The original purchaser may return any item purchased from us within 30 days of purchase for any reason. Early holiday shoppers should feel at ease to contact us if the gift isn’t as expected. If you are giving a gift, we can make an exchange if needed. To be eligible for a return, your item must be in the original, unaltered condition and in the original packaging.
The purchaser is responsible for the mailing costs for the returned jewelry. You must contact us to verify the correct address to return your item, and so we know to expect your package.
Privacy Policy
Snob Appeal Jewelry uses secure credit card processing through Stripe, they never provide us any credit card information or you may use PayPal. The only information we receive is that you submitted a payment for an item. We never share customer information with anyone.
Care Instructions
We recommend that you wipe with a polishing cloth or soft cloth after wearing. If you see some reduction in shine, we use blue Dawn dish soap and an old soft toothbrush to clean the metal under running water.
If you have an ultrasonic cleaner please do not use it on softer stones such as Petoskey stone, bumblebee jasper, or opals. If in doubt, don’t take a chance!
