About this Product

Cape May "Diamond" is crystal clear Quartz that is tumbled in the ocean off the shore at Cape May New Jersey.  The colloquial name is given to it by locals there who sell them all polished up, in their beach front gift stores.  You can find them on the beach, too, but they aren't polished, yet, and will look like frosted sea glass.

This one is set into a sterling silver handsawn setting and finished off with a tumbled finish.

Meet the Maker

Corvus Lux is an independent jewelry business with the goal of providing handcrafted and thoughtful artisan jewelry to the public. This business is a one Woman show with the support of my Husband and  young Daughter.

My typical primary materials include brass, copper and sterling silver with various stone, glass and recycled elements as needed. Typically, I build pieces at the bench directly from the materials at hand, but am ever increasingly moving towards a more planned design-and-then-build, production method. The importance, and fading of handcrafted goods in a world innundated with technology and artificially created, mass produced objects, is what drives me to continue making and teaching others.

I offer custom and repair work upon request and subject to availability. Such requests should fall within the scope of my current work style, but are welcome to include higher karat golds, platinum, and precious gems.

The name; Corvus Lux, means raven or crow light in Latin. It represents a shining of light on darkness and the balance of light and darkness in life. There are multiple, important and symbolic crow folklore stories from multiple cultures and time periods all over the world. I have been drawn to crows, their sound, image, and presence since I was a child in rural Pennsylvania.

I have tried doing other things with my life… I keep coming back to making small objects with my hands. I think this is where I’m meant to be.

Repairs: Jewelry is worn on the body and therefore may be subject to substantial wear and tear. If you need an item that I made, or others' work, repaired, I am happy to provide an estimate for repair through email or messages. I worked for about 7 years as a repair jeweler, and I love solving problems, but if it is something I don't feel comfortable repairing, I will let you know and try to provide an alternative.

About Enamels: Vitreous enamel is glass fused to metal and should be treated as glass. Its a fairly tough material, however, if you step on it or handle it roughly, it will naturally bend and the glass will break off. If this happens, I can probably fix it as a repair. Enamel pieces should have their own special place in a jewelry box, shelf, or be hung up safely when not being worn. You can't put them in a drawer or on a busy counter and expect them to stay there and stay intact. They are priced higher than most of my work because of the extra time, and effort that goes into them, and to hopefully help make it clear that they are special objects that deserve extra respect and care.
