Drift Away’s aroma bead car freshies are formulated to provide a lasting, fresh fragrance in your vehicle while adding a touch of fun style with unique designs not found anywhere else. Most are 3 inches across by ¾” thick and come in 4 scent options:
Spice of Life – my favorite, like a gourmand spiced kitchen with cinnamon, clove, allspice, lemon, and a dash of vanilla.
Juniper Mint – a blast of fresh frosted juniper, fir, cooling camphor, mint, and eucalyptus.
Coco Butter Bliss – a luscious tropical blend of cocoa butter, coconut, suntan lotion, pineapple, and vanilla.
Fresh it Up – a fresh sunshine linen scent that includes lemon, powdery musk, sea salt, sandalwood.
We also offer an in-the-can baked bead freshie that stays in a small tin and can sit in a cup holder, floorboard or slid under the seat for those who prefer not to have hanging items in the car.
Final designs will vary when hand crafting with color, glitter, charms, tassels and such but let us know what you like, and we’ll get it close.
Custom designs are available for group events, graduation years, party favors, companies, making a statement, etc.

Meet the Maker
My roots are deep in the mountains of far northern California where I grew up in the wilds of The Lost Coast.
My memories are vivid and I suppose as a child I took for granted my connection with the earth; feasting on wild blackberries, starry nights on the riverbank, hidden beaches with only the sound of the ebbing waves tinkling like delicate chimes as the water washed over the pebbles.
The smells of the coast, fragrant conifers on the breeze, gardens, wild blooming flora mingling with ozone rich and fresh salty air began a lifelong attachment to fragrance. Perfume, candles, incense, diffusers, body oil, soaps, lotions, linen spray, it doesn't matter, I love it all and fragrance is always present in my world, the more natural and limited of toxic ingredients, the better!
My husband Louis, two daughters now in their 20s, and I still live on a few acres in northern California where we enjoy our animals, family, feeding wild birds, combing the nearby shores for drift wood and of course formulating cleaner alternatives to fragrance our world. I can assure you anything you may try and hopefully enjoy as much as we do will be made with the highest quality ingredients and lovingly handcrafted in a clean environment.
How it’s Made
The aroma beads first spend a week or more in a jar soaking up the fragrance oil. Several times a day we shake and tip the jars to get that oil into every bead.
Once all of the oil beads are ready they are colored in shake-n-bake type bags with mica, then poured into silicone molds which have been sprinkled with a dash of glitter. The bead bake into single unit, a solid car freshie. After they cool the real fun begins, decorating! I use beads, charms, leather tassels, ear rings, key chains, anything that dangles. Eye hooks are then heated with a hand torch and pressed into place with pliers to accommodate the hanger string or chain. All car freshies come with a lobster clasp for easy hanging.
