About this Product
The Sun-Kissed Bowl
This unique bowl, born of necessity, possesses a rustic charm that speaks of resilience. Crafted from a limb of a catalpa tree, a victim of the harsh summer sun. The wood, though weathered and marked by the sun's scorching touch, reveals a surprising strength and character.
The grain is a mesmerizing dance of light and shadow, with subtle variations in color hinting at the tree's struggle against the elements. The edges, perhaps slightly uneven, reflect the hand of the artisan who, with careful attention, transformed a discarded limb into a vessel of beauty.
Holding this bowl, one can almost feel the warmth of the summer sun that once threatened to consume the tree. Each touch, each caress, whispers of the tree's journey – from vibrant green to sun-scorched brown, and finally, to this exquisite transformation.
This is not just a bowl; it is a story etched in wood, a testament to the enduring spirit of nature, and a reminder that even in the face of adversity, beauty can eme

Meet the Maker
My name is Paul an I'm an arborist by trade. I love finding unique pieces of wood from my job sites. It might be from a tree that needs a haircut or a removal. I'm always looking for different grain patterns and oddities to make my products from.
How it’s Made
This catalpa bowl was made from a large limb removed from sycamore IL. The limb was dieing do to sun scalding. I brought this limb home and put it through my process of turning it on the lathe, drying it in the kiln, turning on the lathe a second time to fix all the movement from the drying process, finally sanding and the finish shellac and wax.
