Searching the Desert Sonya begins by exploring the desert, seeking out weathered wood, cactus bones, and natural elements shaped by sun, wind, and time. Each material is chosen not only for its form but also for the story it carries within its textures and lines.
Preparation & Cleaning Once collected, every piece is carefully cleaned, treated, and sealed to preserve its integrity. This ensures the natural material is stabilized and ready for transformation while honoring the desert’s raw character.
Designing the Vision The unique shape of each found object guides the design. Sonya envisions how the piece will be presented — considering angles, balance, and how light will interact with its textures. The desert itself inspires the direction, whether evoking waves, spirits, or landscapes.
