This beautiful dress was inspired by the fashion trends of the 1960s but the origins go back to the early 1940s in a dress called the popover. It's popularity at the time led to it becoming a staple of the American Look. Because we use quality fabric and outstanding construction, this dress represents not only enduring fashion, but a responsible and eco-friendly approach to clothing your children. While clothing made for big box stores will soon see landfills, my garments, properly cared for, can satisfy the clothing needs for many children over time.
The popover was a versatile wrap dress, suitable for everything from a day at school to semi-formal occasions. The design also makes this dress easy to put on and remove.
This dress is made form 100% cotton fabric and thread with a black background and vibrant red and green nutcrackers.
It is worn fitted over head with the front of the dress having two ties in the back and the back of the dress wrapping around the front.

Care Instructions for longest garment life:
Machine wash cold, delicate cycle, with like colors
For first wash, to assure color set.
Wash alone in lukewarm water
1/3 cup distilled vinegar in the rinse
Do not use bleach
For longest life and to minimize shrinkage, hang to dry.
Warm iron as required

I ship Domestically USPS First Class Mail.
Foreign order customers are responsible for all shipping costs, customs fees and documentation.
Returns:
Must be unworn and in the same condition as it was purchased. I will inspect returned items for stains and signs of distress.
Refunds, Exchanges and Custom Work:
I do not provide refund or exchange on personalized and customized items. For those items, all sales are final.
Because each item is unique and hand-made, I will not have the same product in a different size, therefore I can not accommodate exchanges.

How it’s Made
Each dress is individually cut with both exterior and lining cut together from high quality cotton fabrics for guaranteed dimensions.
Both layers are marked together, so that the curves on the neck-line and sleeves align for a better fit and the ribbons and ties sewn into the garment are strong.
I do not use rotary cutters, by looking at what the scissors are cutting, I get a better indication that I am cutting with or across the weave as I need to.
Each dress is hand made by machine and incorporates elements of hand sewing the old fashioned way to make sure the job is done right.
The sewing machines I use are purpose-built for clothing construction. Modern machines built for clothing and quilting have a sewing plate opening large enough to allow additional play in the fabric during the stitching process, resulting is additional variations in the sewing process. My machines do not allow this movement and what you get is a more consistent stitch quality.
I use 100% Cotton threads (long filament Pima Cotton sourced from Europe) for superior strength in stitching.

Shipping
Shipping on domestic orders over $200 is complementary. Complementary shipping for international orders is available on orders over $300. Shipping is via first class package service through the US Postal Service. Buyers are responsible for any sales, customs and import taxes that may apply. We are not responsible for delays due to customs. We do charge a shipping and handling premium for expedited shipments. Please ask for details.
Taxes & International
Sales Tax: Buyers are responsible for any taxes necessary in their home countries including any value-added taxes, customs and import taxes that may apply. We are not responsible for delays due to customs. Given the U.S. Supreme Court ruling on sales tax and Internet sales, we will collect sales tax if the appropriate laws etc. are in place and require it. E.U. Shipment: Imperial Couture is a small family owned business and does not have the resources to keep track of the various value-added tax, customs duties/taxes, income tax, and Eco-friendly regulations of the various EU nations. Due to E.U. laws, we do not ship directly to the European Union. Should a resident of the E.U. decide to take delivery within the continental United States and have the garment re-shipped to them independently, we will accommodate shipping for delivery to the U. S. domestic destination only. European Union taxes are the responsibility of the customer.
U.K. Shipment: Per VAT notice 714, baby and children's clothing and footwear are not subject to VAT. This includes baby bibs. The VAT rate for women's dresses is 20% and requires VAT registry in the UK. We will ship baby and children's clothing to the UK but, for women's dresses, shipment must follow our practices for the E.U. and be delivered to a U.S. domestic location for subsequent shipment to the U.K.
Order Cancellations
We do our best to ship stocked items within 3 days. Domestic orders can be cancelled up to 24 hours after they are placed with no problem. For orders that will ship internationally, cancellation must be done within 48 hours.
Order Returns
Contact us for order returns within 14 days of receipt. The garment must be in the original packaging and undamaged. Credit will be issued after receipt and inspection of the returned garment. The customer must pay return shipping. We do not accept returns for international shipments (except Canada).
