About this Product
If you've been to Colt State Park in Bristol, Rhode Island, you'll probably recognize this stone bridge, where it opens up to Narragansett Bay. It's an absolute gem that sits upon 464 acres and follows the shoreline. After I first visited I immediately fell in love and I just had to paint the stone bridge.
The artwork `Colt State Park` captures the serene beauty and historical charm of its namesake location in Rhode Island. The stone arch bridge depicted in the painting serves as a focal point, showcasing the intricate craftsmanship and solid construction of a bygone era. The bridge`s weathered stones and graceful arches invite viewers to imagine the stories and events that have unfolded over time in this tranquil setting. The calm waters flowing beneath the bridge reflect the structure and the sky above, creating a sense of harmony and unity in the composition. The gentle ripples on the water`s surface suggest a peaceful and undisturbed environment, inviting those who view the artwork to pause and appreciate the beauty of nature. The grassy bank and collection of rocks in the foreground add a sense of realism and depth to the scene, grounding the viewer in the landscape. The natural shoreline hints at the presence of wildlife and the passing of seasons, making the viewer feel connected to the environment depicted in the painting. The soft, diffused light in the artwork enhances the overall sense of tranquility and nostalgia, evoking a feeling of timelessness and contemplation. The muted color palette of blues, grays, and earth tones further reinforces the peaceful mood of the scene, drawing the viewer into a moment of quiet reflection. Overall, the artwork `Colt State Park` invites viewers to immerse themselves in the beauty of this natural and historical landmark, encouraging them to connect with the past and present of this idyllic setting. Meet the Maker
My name is Cheryl, and I am a watercolorist. Originally from central Massachusetts, I grew up in a household full of talented artists and musicians who heavily influenced my own artistic journey. While attending high school, my teachers recognized my talent and potential, and encouraged me to skip study class to double up on art classes. During this time, I applied for and was accepted into the Massachusetts College of Art program for high school students looking to pursue a career in art.
After high school, I studied in the Commercial Art program at Worcester Technical Institute, and eventually returned back to school again in 1999 to earn my Associates Degree in Graphic Design, a career in which I've devoted over 20 years.
Throughout the years, I've dabbled in many different art mediums, but my heart and passion are with watercolor. I found I had a true passion and natural talent for it, and have committed myself to learning all I can about this wonderful art form.
My watercolors are more than just portraits of dogs and landscapes; they are portraits of memories. I strive to capture the essence of a place, the personality of a dog, and the feeling of a moment held close to my heart. Inspired by the nostalgic charm of New England, I paint the familiar scenes and cherished companions that resonate with warmth and comfort. Using the delicate medium of watercolor, I aim to create art that evokes emotion, sparks connection, and celebrates the beauty of everyday moments.
When asked whose works inspired me the most, I cite Norman Rockwell, Mary Whyte, and James Gurney as my biggest influences.
