About this Product

Sylvia the Sandhill Crane is the second critter in my Florida Friends Collection! He is an original design by me. This round crane is ready for adoption to her new home. Crochet is a special art in that it must be done by hand. Each stitch is made by hand and builds upon the next stitch to create the item you see here. This critter took me approximately 3.5 hours and over 10 years of skill and experience. This critter is made from acrylic yarn and is machine washable and dryable. I always use a mesh laundry bag to keep my critters looking great for even longer. This critter has safety eyes. This means the backs are fixed to the body and I've done my own tug test to make sure they don't come out, but because of the size of the eye, it's not recommended that this critter be in reach of children under three.

From Necessity to Passion

My grandmother taught me to crochet back in 2000. Back then, I didn't have the patience for the calm, repetitive work that crochet is. Now that calm repetitive work is therapeutic to me and I love getting to see the cool things I can create with my hands.

I dove deeper into crochet in 2016 when I was short on money and still wanted to present my family and friends with gifts. I broke out the yarn and got on Youtube to find so many cute and beginner-friendly tutorials to follow. Now I love to crochet purses, clothing, and accessories, but my specialty is critters. I enjoy bringing an item to life stitch by stitch. Now I even design my own critters-with a Florida flare.

Please check out my Florida Friends Collection. 15% of every pattern sale goes to a Florida wildlife charity. I'm proud of my state and the things that make it unique, especially the critters.
