Please be prepared to respond to messages. I may need to check certain things with you, due to the highly personalized nature of some orders.

Each rat is made personally by us (a team of two), using a combination of hand and machine-sewing.

Every rat is special. We look forward to making yours.

If grief is what brought you to us today, we are very sorry for your loss. I started designing these dolls after we lost the last of our girls. Please be kind to yourself, and give yourself time to think before making any purchases.


What You Get

The default size is a body length of EIGHT INCHES, not including the tail. For bigger or smaller, please contact me before ordering.

The ears can swivel in a full circle.

The tail is detachable via clear plastic snap, for ease of washing or if you want to swap tails.

We currently default to 12 whiskers on each side of the face, up to a maximum of 15 at the same price. Please let me know if you’d like a number other than 12. Most of our listing pictures show 15.

We currently only offer fluff stuffing, but hope to offer weighted plushies again soon!

The listing price covers one rat (including markings and scars) with any combination of the following:

Fur Colors—

Black, Blue, Brown, Camel, Green, Ivory, Red, Steel, White.

Tail Colors (Limit 2)—

1 through 20 from the listing photos.

Aglet Colors (Limit 1)—

Black, Blue, Green, Pink, Red, Rose Gold, Teal.

Whisker Colors—

The default is white, but you can also choose from my full stock of embroidery floss. Just let me know!

Nose Colors—

The default is pink, but again, let me know if you’d like to choose from my embroidery floss collection.

Ear Colors—

Pink synthetic felt, pink fleece, or green fleece. All current listing photos are of synthetic felt ears. We’re working on getting good photos of the fleece options, let me know if you’d like to see them.

Hand & Foot Colors—

Pink, Gray, or White microsuede. Up to two colors per hand. Up to three colors per foot. (Please note we achieve multicolor hands and feet by sewing different colors of fabric together, not by dyeing the full piece. This means there will be seams between each color.)

Eye Colors—

Black, red, pink, and potentially other colors. Up to now, for eye colors other than black, I’ve been hand painting and sealing them. I’m planning to 3D-print them instead soon. Let me know if you have a preference.


Extras

Special-Ordered Solid Colors—

$3 for most minky, microsuede, synthetic felt, and fleece. We’re happy to help you find something if you’re not sure what you need. We may be able to offer a discount, if you need multiple colors that we’re able to order from the same source.

At this time we cannot special-order new tail colors, unless there is a specific material you have in mind.

Special-Ordered Prints—

$9 for most minky prints if they will make up half or less of one rat.

$18 for most minky prints if they will make up more than half of one rat.

We’re also happy to help you decide on a print if you need help looking, or aren’t sure what you want yet.

Listed Prints—

$3. The Rose Print is currently our only listed print. Due to limited stock, it can only be used as an underbelly or small markings.

Materials, Etc.

All of our current solid-color minky has a 2.5mm pile. The Rose Print minky has a 2mm pile.

Special-ordered solid-color minky will most likely be 2.5mm, and special-ordered minky prints will most likely be 2mm. We will let you know if that's not the case.

The ears are made of synthetic felt or fleece.

The hands and feet are made of microsuede. Some of our listing pictures include felt hands and feet, which we no longer make.

The tail is hand-braided faux suede, tipped with a metal aglet. The nose and whiskers are embroidery floss. The stuffing is fiberfill or plastic pellets (currently we only offer the fiberfill). The eyes are plastic. If you choose an eye color other than black, it will either be hand-painted with acrylic paint and hand-sealed with a glossy varnish, or 3D-printed.

If you purchased on or after August 21st, 2023, your rat's tail is secured to the body with a plastic sew-on snap. Some of our listing pictures are of non-detachable tails.

We are working to update our pictures as fast as possible, and aim to be transparent at all times about what you are purchasing.


Handmade Notice

Colors may appear different in real life than on your screen, and there will always be slight differences between handmade products. All of our sizes are approximate.

Please also see the listing picture labeled "White vs Ivory in the same light".

Our plushies are not meant to look completely realistic or lifelike. We aim for a classic "stuffed animal" look that incorporates enough detail to also represent YOUR rat, or your idea.


!!! SAFETY NOTICE: THIS IS NOT A TOY !!!

Product is intended as a keepsake/display piece for ages 14 and up ONLY, and has NOT been safety certified. Please do not buy these for children under age 14, and please do not purchase if you are under 14 yourself.

This product is also not suitable for animals.


Allergy Notice

There are pets in our home. We wash and dry the plushies before shipping out, and then seal them in bags. We do not typically wash the fabric samples, so you can see for yourself what they're like pre-wash, but we can wash them upon request. Please inquire about any specific allergy concerns.


Wash Notice

All plushies ordered on or after August 21st, 2023 are cold-water washable, depending on your techniques and soap. The tail must be removed first. (We have contacted all customers with non-removable tails.)

They MAY be machine washable/dryable, depending on the lowest temperatures on your machines.

We include a care sheet with wash and dry suggestions in every order, as well as fabric samples, so you can do at least two test runs.

Please note, we cannot accept returns on the basis of your machines not being able to wash or dry your plushies. We are not qualified to suggest specific temperatures or soaps, and we make no guarantees that your personal machines/soaps will be compatible. If you have experienced color bleed from a non-detachable tail, however, please do contact us so we can make things right.

Washing at any temperature with any type of soap will eventually cause wear.


Shipping & Delivery

We ship with tracking and insurance where available. Please contact us immediately with photo evidence if your product arrives damaged, or if anything is missing. If the box itself is damaged, please take photos before opening it. If you can film yourself opening it, that is even better.

If your tracking information says "delivered" but you have not received your order, please let us know. Sometimes packages are mismarked as delivered a couple days early, but it’s good to keep an eye out for it so we can contact the carrier promptly if it doesn’t turn up.

If you live in an apartment complex (or college campus, etc), check the other buildings and ask any neighbors and/or staff if anyone has received your package by mistake or stored it in a mail room. If you've never had a package delivered before, it's also a good idea to ask the building manager how it works before your order arrives.

If packages are routinely mis-delivered at your apartment (etc), try the following:

  • Ask your local post office if you can pick up your package instead of having it delivered.
  • Alternatively, make note of what time the mail usually comes, and wait outside for the carrier on the day of delivery. (The tracking should say “Out for delivery.”)

Meet the Maker

My heart rat's name was Ferret.


All of our rats were special—Ferret, Bandit, 'Imi Loa, Clementine, Kiki, Addie, Malino, and The Phantom. And we know how special your rats are, too. Every rat has their own personality, and is their own unique presence in our lives.

We all remember our pets in our own way. For some of us the option that resonates the most is a memorial doll, and there are many wonderful styles out there to choose from.

Our dolls have a classic "stuffed animal" look, combined with elements that also make them YOUR rat. This can be a real physical feature, like a marking or scar, or something that you feel represents them.

If you're not sure what details you want, we're happy to chat with you and help you figure it out. We enjoy learning about our customers' pets, and helping to carry their memories.

However, we also understand and respect that for many people, grief is a private process. You are under no obligation to offer any details beyond what is necessary for your order. We will follow your lead.

If you are grieving or anticipating the loss of a pet, we also highly encourage you to take a step back, allow yourself time to process your feelings, and if possible discuss the matter with someone you trust, before you make any purchases.



In addition to memorial dolls and other stylized pet replicas, we are also glad to offer our services to anyone who just wants to design a rat! Maybe you'd like a decorative cage full of soft little friends who never need to eat, never make a mess, and never go to the vet. They can be natural colors, they can be pastel green, they can even be printed all over with architectural blueprints or different kinds of cheese. Just send us a message, and we'll work out a budget and a timeline to make it all happen.



Our dolls are COLD WATER WASHABLE. This does not necessarily mean MACHINE washable, but they can handle being submerged in (COLD!) water as long as they are THOROUGHLY rinsed and dried afterwards, with no exposure to high heat. We include fabric scraps and a set of hand washing AND machine washing suggestions in every order, so you can do at least two test runs.

We do advise keeping moisture exposure to a minimum and spot-cleaning whenever possible, but your doll will be okay if you need to wash it every once in a while. If you lose the washing suggestions, please feel free to message us for a new copy.



IMPORTANT SAFETY NOTE: Our dolls are NOT toys, and have not been safety tested for children under age 14. Please do not purchase our dolls for a child under 14, and especially do not allow a child to sleep with our dolls.

Our dolls are also not appropriate for use as pet toys.

Privacy

We will never knowingly sell, publicize, or otherwise share a buyer's personal information, including but not limited to buyer name, pet name, photos of the buyer or their real animals or any other photo taken by the buyer, their address, or their contact info, without explicit authorization from the relevant buyer, unless required by law or to protect the safety of ourselves or others.

We may use photos or videos of a buyer's ORDER (taken by us) for listings and other promotional purposes. We will not name the buyer, or (if applicable) the pet the order is based on, without explicit authorization from the buyer.

If a buyer requests that we not use photos or videos of their order, we will respect that request.

We will also never name or tag a customer on social media without their explicit permission, unless required by law or to protect the safety of ourselves or others.

If someone publicly identifies themself as our customer on social media, we will take that as permission to respond in kind IN THE RELEVANT SPHERE. That being a specific post/thread/comment section/etc, NOT an entire platform or beyond.

We will not contact buyers beyond what is necessary to fulfill their orders or respond to other communication initiated by the buyer, unless required by law or to protect the safety of ourselves or others, or unless the buyer opts in to any additional communications.


Fraud Protection

In the event that we receive allegations of fraudulent/unauthorized purchases, we will work with the relevant party, their financial institution, and our payment processor to resolve the situation. Please don't hesitate to contact us.


We may require a return of our goods (at our expense) prior to issuing a refund if we have already mailed the order to the reporting party, and IF this does not contradict relevant consumer protection regulations or other relevant laws.


Cancellations (Not Fraud)

This shop will accept cancellations with a 10% restocking fee if the buyer cancels within 24 hours of placing an order. If the buyer accidentally bought two or more of the same item and only wants to cancel the duplicate(s), we will waive the fee in full unless WE are charged unrefundable fees directly related to the purchase, such as certain payment processing fees.

We do not normally accept cancellations after 24 hours. We may consider accepting a cancellation of ACCIDENTAL DUPLICATE ORDERS ONLY after 24 hours have passed, depending on the circumstances. We cannot waive or reduce the restocking fee for this.


Refunds & Returns (Not Fraud)

This shop will issue free replacements or full refunds without a return ONLY IF:

  • The USPS verifies a buyer's claim that the package was never delivered to the correct address, OR
  • The buyer contacts us within 7 days of delivery, with photo proof that the product they received is not the product they ordered OR that the product has a major flaw that was not disclosed and approved prior to shipment (wrong colors, etc.) OR that the product was badly damaged in transit.


We cannot issue refunds for claims of mail theft after delivery, aka porch pirates. We provide a tracking link with every shipment. It is the buyer's responsibility to make sure someone is home to receive the package.

If a buyer provides photo or video proof of minor damage allegedly incurred during transit, we may require a return. We will issue a prepaid shipping label. The buyer's refund will be issued when we receive the product, in the same condition shown in the buyer's photo(s)/video(s).

We do not accept returns or issue refunds on the basis of a customer or gift recipient simply not liking a product.
