About this Product
Traditional silhouette portraits make a darling addition to any vintage nursery or bedroom design, but how much more precious when that silhouette is the immediately recognizable portrait of your own little one, cut by hand just for you!
It would be my delight to help you preserve forever the preciousness of your children through a one-of-a-kind silhouette, always cut by hand and created with love and precision exclusively for you. Never computer-generated, never generic, never rushed - it's heart-work, by hand.♥ Don't miss the "How It's Made" section below!
There are many styles of silhouettes, but my signature is creating accurate, custom family heirlooms that highlight each darling feature that makes your child unique. One of my favorite moments in my work is when I receive a message back from the family telling me that the silhouette has captured their children exactly. Nothing makes my day like the thrill of hearing you absolutely love your portraits!

Scissors & Quill Co.
Meet the Maker
Welcome to Scissors & Quill Co.!
My name is Abigail. I'm a silhouette artist but also a pastor's wife and stay-at-home-mom, and I love the opportunity to serve my customers while continuing to create memories with my own family.
My shop began with a story, and it's a story I want to share with you. The sweet silhouette in the Scissors & Quill logo belongs to our forever 3-year-old daughter, Ada Katherine, who went to be with the Lord in the summer of 2022 after an extended illness due to cancer and multiple other diagnoses. It was soon after parting with our brave little darling that I designed my first custom silhouettes: side by side profiles of Ada and her big sister. These still hang in my kitchen, capturing forever the days when both my daughters were together in our home.
We are blessed with so many photos and videos, but there's something about the simple profile that highlights the sweet details we so love to remember. Even as time moves forward and my older daughter grows and changes, those classic silhouettes never change; they hold sacred in time a yesterday that will be in our hearts forever.
Inspired by how much I enjoy my own profile portraits, I began creating them as gifts for friends and family, and eventually I decided it was time to make these personalized heirlooms available to you, too, my customers-to-be! I so enjoy "meeting" each of you and delighting in each little nose and chin and curl that makes your child special! It's capturing those details accurately and with the heart of a mom that sets my work apart. Nothing makes my day like getting a message back from a family that they absolutely love the portrait I created for them.
Another unforgettable part of our story with Ada was the way that God met our needs through His inspired Word, and that's why a portion of my shop is dedicated to silhouettes paired with hand-lettered calligraphy of Scripture verses. These serve a memorial not only of these priceless childhood days but also of the faithful God whose Word is able to accompany those children all their lives, through every joy and every sorrow.
I will do my utmost to honor your trust and capture your little one's childhood in a way you will treasure for years to come. If you have any questions or special requests, please don't hesitate to message me directly!
How it’s Made
Each original silhouette portrait is designed just for you from your personal photos and is meticulously hand-cut from a beautifully textured black cardstock paper, taking care to preserve the special features that make your child unique!
It's extremely important to me that you are thrilled with the representation of your child, so you will always have the opportunity to view a photo before shipment, and I will rework the silhouette if needed. Once approved, I secure the silhouette to a subtly textured, high-quality 140 lb / 300g paper, package your portrait carefully, and ship to you for free.
