Southern Made Signs
We started in 2010, with husband and wife, Donald and LaShaye, and daughters, Amber and Elizabeth. But our story as craftsmanship starts decades before this, with Donald’s parents, who were skilled woodworkers and craftsmen, who owned and managed their own woodworking business. Wood Creations. Wanting to carry on their legacy as wood craftsmen, we set out to make that dream a reality in January 2010.
We set out to create beautiful woodwork items that would last a lifetime and become cherished heirlooms. That dream slowly evolved into our business of sign-making today. People who buy or receive one of our signs fall in love with them. They rave about beauty and craftsmanship. We take immense pride and joy in knowing that we have created them a beautiful piece of art that will last them a lifetime.
All our signs are made in our shop in North Carolina, using select premium “A” grade pine and oak wood, paints, and stains. All the designs are created by us and with you in mind. We carve every sign to our customer's exact instructions. A mock-up is sent to every customer for approval before we cut to ensure we get the sign exactly right.

How it’s Made
We make a digital render of your custom design. We use that exact render to use it to cut the design into the specified size sign specified. We use premium pine or oak, which ever is specified. Once the item is cut, we remove the sign from the machine, and hand paint the sign. From there we stain the sign. If it was specified to clear coated, we apply the coat of spar urethane. 12-24 hrs later, we apply the second coat. From there it is prepared to ship.

Custom Carved Signs: Materials, Creation process and Care
We use premium select pine that is virtually free of knots and blemishes. Every sign is hand painted or stained with premium stains or paints and clear coated with indoor/outdoor spar urethane. Every sign is custom carved and will be unique.
Do your signs have a protected coating, and can they be used outdoors?
All our clear coated signs are clear coated with indoor/outdoor spar urethane, it recommended if used outside, that the sign be kept out of direct contact with the elements. Sun, rain, wind, heat and cold can have serious impacts on your sign and its appearance if left in direct contact. It is also recommended, if the sign is used outdoors, that the spar-urethane be reapplied annually for best protection.
Signs without clear coat are not recommended for outdoor use, and if you want to use them outside, it is recommended that you apply a weather protective coat/varnish.
Will I get a mock-up of my sign, and where is it?
Yes. One will be sent of your sign with-in 2 business days of order placed. Please check your email and spam/junk mail for an email from Etsy. If there are any changes or corrections to be made, please let us know ASAP. Your sign will go into production in 2 to 3 days after the mock-up is sent. If you do not get back with us on the mock-up within 48 hours, your sign will be cut from the mock-up sent and is non-returnable. This is to ensure that your sign is made and ready to go on the “ship-by date” or sooner.
I would like "this" on my sign. Can I get anything on my custom sign?
Almost within reason. We do abide by copyright and trademark laws. We reserve the right to refuse and cancel an order if a customer wants obscene, cruel, raciest, or abusive language and/or illustrations. If you are unsure we will do what you want, please contact us first.
Do you do pet signs? Can I use a picture of my pet?
Yes and yes! We hand line pet images, so they will cut clear and beautifully. We do not use a program to auto-line the image, so we can make sure even images that might have dark lighting or lower resolution have the chance to be carved clearly and beautifully. This opens the opportunity for you to have images carved that may have been deemed un-carveble by other crafters.

The distressed items are hand painted with premium paints and hand waxed for protection. They are meant for indoor use only. To clean, simply wipe with a damp cloth. They are meant for indoor use only. To clean, simply wipe with a damp cloth.
Vintage style name racks are hand cut letters and decorations that are hand painted and adhered to a solid wood peg rack that is stained. They are for indoor use only, and can be cleaned with a damp cloth.

When will my item ship?
Items vary in ship times.
Distressed Signs: With minimal customization will ship in 3-5 business days.
Name Racks: If decorations are specified will ship in 1-3 business days, if not specified we will reach out to get what decorations you may want. If not confirmed in 48 hours, it will be pushed into production.
Non-Customized Items: 1-3 business days
Custom Signs: Once we receive approval of the design, for clear coated signs, it typically takes 4-6 business days. If you choose double-sided, add 1 business day. If it is not clear coated, to take 3-5 business days after approval. If a design takes a long time to finalize, the ship date WILL be updated to reflect this.
Ok, it's been shipped, when will it arrive?
Typically, in 3 days to a week. We are on the east coast, so if you are on the east coast it will be there sooner simply due to proximity. Please check your provided tracking for more details. If you are having troubles, please don't hesitate to contact us!

I would like to cancel my order, can I?
For custom sign orders--Cancellations are allowed within 24 hours and before the mock-up is sent. Once the mock-up is sent, the sign is considered in production and no refunds or cancelations will be allowed. For other shop items--Cancellations are allowed within 48 hours, After 48 hours, your item will be considered in production and no refunds or cancelations will be allowed.
I would like to return my item for a replacement or refund, can I?
We do not offer refunds or replacements on custom signs unless an error was made in our part. If an error was made by the customer, please contact us because we do offer a remake at a discount price. If the item arrives damaged, we do offer replacements or repair options, Please include pictures of the damage when you contact us. Item may need to be returned for replacement, repair or refund. If an error was made on our part, please contact us ASAP for return instructions. Once returned, we will replace or repair your item.
