Heres how the process works:
1. Select the photo or photos that you would like me to use to create your custom portrait. If you are unsure , feel free to message me and I can help find the best choice!
2.Choose the item in my shop that best defines the painting you would like and place your order
3. After you have placed your order, I will have you email photo(s) to muralsbyjenn@yahoo.com along with any instructions you may have (ie. Things to omit, things to add, change season, add flowers, etc)
4. When your portrait is finished I will email you a photo of your portrait for your approval (changes can be made). Once I have your approval , I will varnish and ship your painting .
Typically, starting from when the portrait gets ordered, I am able to have your portrait completed and shipped to your home within 2-4 weeks. This is an estimate and times may be shorter or longer depending on workload . Please message me for more exact timeframe if needed.Rush orders are offered for an additional $40.
Paintings are done on a 1/8th" thick panel and can be easily framed with any store purchased frame or professionally done. If you would like to have it done on a ready to hang gallery wrapped canvas there is an additional charge of $25 (very large sizes may be more)Work is done in acrylic paint, unless other medium is requested. Delivery time for oil may be longer as drying time is longer.Please note: size larger than 18x24" will have an additional shipping cost

- I begin by collecting reference materials such as photographs of the pet. Clear and high-resolution images help in capturing the details and personality of the pet.
- Canvas and Sketching:
- The chosen reference photo is used to create an initial sketch on the canvas. This sketch serves as the foundation for the portrait and helps me plan the composition and proportions.
- Background and Composition:
- With you input , I decide on the background and overall composition of the portrait. This step is crucial in setting the mood and ensuring the pet is the focal point of the artwork.
- Underpainting:
- An initial layer of paint, known as the underpainting, is applied. This layer helps establish the basic tones and values of the artwork, providing a foundation for subsequent layers.I use absolutely NO Computerized Underlay or pre printed image!
- Building Layers with Oil Paints:
- I start building layers of oil paint, working from general to specific details. This process involves gradually refining the features of the pet, capturing nuances in fur texture, color, and expression.
- Drying Time:
- Oil paint requires adequate drying time between layers. I allow each layer to dry thoroughly before applying the next one. This ensures that colors don't mix unintentionally and allows for corrections or adjustments.
- Fine Details and Highlights:
- As the painting progresses, I focus on adding fine details, emphasizing highlights, and refining the intricacies of the pet's features. This stage requires precision and attention to the unique characteristics of the individual pet.
- Final Touches:

- Varnishing:
