About this Product

An organically manifested fever dream. A disorienting combination. The secret place where dreams go to meet the waking. This whimsical, original piece of art is housed within a intricately detailed picture frame. It is constructed entirely out of thrifted, recycled, and naturally foraged materials. The bones were found by my dog after the spring melt early in 2022 on a hike in a grassland area we frequent near our home in upstate New York. They have been cleaned thoroughly but haven't been processed with hydrogen peroxide (artificially whitens bone) but remain their natural colors. The same colors that live within each of us. The weaving is warped directly into the frame without the use of prongs or nails. I use a technique that was created and designed in my home studio, with my own hands and no one else's. The vertebrae were added during the warping, not stitched in afterward. This allowed for the shape of the bones to influence the shapes within the weaving. They mingled, danced, and will forever coexist. This woven wall hanging hosts an array of over thirty different fibers, all of different colors and textured that have been intricately stitched together. It measures 23x8x1". I have a second matching framed that also has five vertebrae warped into it that . I envision these pieces together framing a large bay window or entryway. If you would be interested in both pieces, please reach out. All weavings are packed with love in recycled packing materials. Free shipping is included with each purchase. Interested in a custom weaving? Head over to the listing available in my shop. If this piece speaks to you, please speak to me. Always here. Stay wild.

Meet the Maker

I am a trickster by nature,

Woolf-like.

Methodical.

Some days more fox-like.

Mischievous.

Creating a gentleness and fluidity between the ordinary and the unordinary

is what I strive to do in my making process.

Ethereal trickery, maybe.

The fruition of curiosity leads to a pause for contemplation.

For a moment of quiet focus.

A rest.

Let it begin with your eyes.

Artist stand on the edge of a shallow pond. Canvas shoes can be seen as can the rough reflection of the artist in the water along with light refracting against algae covered stones underwater

Care Instructions:

NEVER LINT ROLL YOUR WEAVING. IT'LL GET WEIRD. Instead, simply hold it by the frame/hoop and flip it over. Lightly pat the back of the weaving to shake out any dust that has collected. Carefully trim off any unwanted/ghastly shag. Feel free to kind of 'massage' the fibers in a strumming motion from the back to freshen it up a bit.
