Your photo (landscape orientation) will appear in a 2" x 3" space -or- (portrait orientation) 2.5" x 2" space at one end of the 6-color rainbow bridge in sepia tone. In addition, this deluxe version of the memorial includes encapsulating buyer-supplied ashes and/or rainbow dichroic glass frit within the layers of glass and sand etching the name in a heart on the other end of the bridge.The custom memorial rainbow bridge is created over the course of a week involving meticulous ordered tasks including: photo editing, glass measuring/cutting, washing, grinding, sanding, three kiln firings, lettering template creation, masking, and sand-etching. Dust and dichroic rainbow powder are encapsulated within the red and violet edges during the initial high-temperature kiln firing at 1490 degrees where the 10 hand-cut glass pieces strike to vibrant colors and fuse together into a flat bar. The second kiln-firing fuses the photo image (iron oxide) into the surface of the translucent white glass at 1250 degrees. A third day of firing in the kiln will drape the glass bar over a ceramic arch mold into its final bridge shape at 1200 degrees. Next, a heart with name template is made and the design is sand etched into the glass surface opposite the photo. The final step is to diamond-grind the base of the glass bridge so that it sits square and flat. The bridge is then washed, wrapped in tissue, bubble wrap, and shipped in a 200lb test box with a printed copy of the "Rainbow Bridge" poem, and an optional gift message on matching rainbow paper. Place the glass bridge near a window and marvel as the natural sunlight illuminates your photo memorial in vibrant rainbow colors. The finished dimensions are 5.25" L x 3.125" W x 2.125" H (6mm thick glass) so it is ideal for placing on a 6" deep kitchen window sill or in a garden window.
