About this Product

Sometimes you need a buddy for renaissance faire, comic con, LARP meet, or other fantastical pursuits, and that's where these tiny dragons come in! Each dragon is a one-of-a-kind piece of statement jewelry consisting of three adjustable ring bands connected to the dragon's snout and wings, and then the dragon's tail wraps around your wrist like a bracelet. The adjustable nature means they can be worn on either the left or right hand. Whether you're an Eragon, Pern, or Game of Thrones dragon fan, these dragon pets from the Fantasia Collection are sure to be an eye-catching conversation piece for your next fantasy outing!

This particular dragon is named Hildegard after the early composer Hildegard von Bingen. While she doesn't sing like her namesake, she is sure to add beauty to your outfit with her flashy bronze and purple/blue scales.

Care of your dragon

This species does not care for water, so please remove your dragon from your hand before washing hands, doing dishes, or other water-borne activities to prolong the life of your dragon and prevent their scales and metal from tarnishing. They need no food but occasional sunlight, and they will stay secure on your wrist as long as you don't annoy them by overly jostling them.

Materials used

To the best of my knowledge, all materials are nickel free, but since some of the dragon bodies are upcycled from other pieces of jewelry, I cannot completely guarantee that. The beads are made from glass or acrylic, and all the wire used is copper, brass, or steel base.

Symphony Beads

Meet the Maker

Welcome to Symphony Beads! I'm Beka Wilson, a music teacher, jewelry designer, multi-instrumentalist, church orchestra member, music arranger/composer, and mommy of two crazy kids. I've been beading for around 15 years as a side hobby and making gifts for friends and family. After seeing one too many backwards treble clefs while looking for some music-themed charms, I got mad and decided to try making some with some spare wire in my supplies. Music is my life and one of my greatest loves, and I hope that love shines through in my pieces.

I learned many of my jewelry skills through the women in my family. My grandma used to own a business supplying beads to craft stores, and when she got out of the business she gifted me a great deal of her leftover inventory. I have so many memories of my grandma, aunt, mom, sister, and I sitting around the table, working on our own jewelry projects late into the night while we snacked, chatted, and laughed until we cried.

How it’s Made

This was borne out of a crazy idea....I wanted some extra cool dragon jewelry for my next renaissance faire. I attended the Alabama Medieval Renaissance and Fantasy Festival back in March 2024, and I had such a fun time that I wanted something to jazz up whatever costume I had next year. However, since we are vendors selling my husband's harps, I needed something to keep my fingers free to play, so the leather dragon wristlets I had seen online weren't gonna work. So...I got busy making my own using my beading and wirework skills.

First came the sketch, then a wire base. I have made tiny seed bead dragons before, so I tried that method first, but I soon found other components in my bead stash that I could use for the head and body, and that cut down the work time a bit. Next came the wing design--it took a bit of finangling to get one that finally worked. Because I have been using scrap beads from my stash, each dragon has been slightly different in dimension because of the beads used, so the wings are definitely the biggest time dump in this project. There are a ton of try-ons to make sure I'm getting the dimensions right, of course. Once the wings are done and attached, then the wingtips and nose are attached to ring bases if they aren't already, and a small statement bead of some sort is found to wire onto the wire loop at the end of the tail for a more finished tail tip.
