In Egyptian Mythology, the Goddess Bast (var. Ubasti, Bubastis; Greek "Bastet") is a goddess of joy, pleasure, music, and dance. She is often depicted as a woman with the head of a house cat, though in earlier periods, she was depicted as a lioness or a lion-headed woman. She is especially interested in pursuits of pleasure, sensuality, joy, and beauty, and can be considered a goddess of happiness and love. As an Eye of Ra, she can be called on for protection, as a defender of the King and the Two Lands. Modern associations call her a Cat Goddess or the Goddess of Cats (from her appearance), or a goddess of womanhood, femininity, pregnancy, childbirth, and children (when equated with the Greek Goddess Artemis). She can also be understood as a Mother Goddess as sometimes-wife of the Creator God Ptah, and mother of gods Nefertem and Ma'ahes.

How it’s Made
These handmade devotional beads were made to honor the Egyptian Goddess Bast, featuring 8mm Tiger's Eye and Green Aventurine gemstone beads, 10mm Black Agate accents, Gold-Colored metal spacer beads, and Black Agate end pieces. The horizontal, oval-shaped Pendant is Malachite set in Silver, with a small silver butterfly on top. Tigertail beading wire is used as the necklace's foundation, to increase durability and longevity, and the closure is a Gold-Colored Metal lobster clasp. These beads may be worn as a devotional necklace, be used to adorn a statue and decorate an altar or shrine, be presented as a votive offering, or serve as prayer beads in meditation.
