In Egyptian Mythology, the Goddess Ma'at is the personification of the Ancient Egyptian concept "ma'at," or truth, justice, balance, harmony, and cosmic order. The concept of ma'at was said to be the foundation for life and the universe, and sustains all things, including the gods. To "live in ma'at" means to uphold these principles in one's life, and in death, the hearts of the dead are said to be weighed against the feather of ma'at, determining one's fate in the afterlife.
The Goddess Ma'at is depicted as a woman with a single ostrich feather on her head, who may also have a pair of colorful wings. In antiquity, she was considered patron of judges and other officials who uphold the law; in modern day, she can also be understood as patron to all who work in public service, as well as those who fight for human rights and social justice. She can be called upon as a Goddess of Justice for help in legal matters, and for guidance and wisdom in governing one's actions. As the personification of ma'at, modern devotees may approach her as the foundation of their practice, as reminder of their dedication to doing "that which is right," or as a symbol of their devotion to the Gods of Kemet.

How it’s Made
These handmade devotional beads were made to honor the Egyptian Goddess Ma'at, featuring 8mm White Jade gemstone beads, 8mm Indonesia Agathis Alba King Wood beads, 10mm Opalite accent beads, and faceted Black Agate end pieces. The closure is a Gold-Colored Metal lobster clasp, and the Pendant is White Opal set in Silver. Tigertail wire serves as the necklace's foundation, to increase durability and longevity. They may be worn as a devotional necklace, be used to adorn a statue and decorate an altar or shrine, be presented as a votive offering, or serve as prayer beads in meditation.
