About this Product

~ Sekhmet, Goddess of War, Healing, and Plague ~

In Egyptian Mythology, the Goddess Sekhmet (Greek "Sachmis") is a Lioness Goddess of War and Healing. As an Eye of Ra, she is fierce protectress of the King and destroyer of evil. She can be called upon to soothe and appropriately direct anger into appropriate action, to build self-confidence, and to realize inner strength and power. As Sekhmet the Healer, she is a patron of surgeons and medical professionals, and is invoked as the foremost destroyer of plague and disease. She is depicted both as a woman wearing a red dress with the head of a lion, and in a fully leonine form. As wife to the Creator God Ptah and mother to the God Nefertem (and sometimes Ma'ahes), she can also be understood as a fiercely protective Mother Goddess.
