Meet the Maker

Merry meet friends! Welcome to Laser Cuts and Curios! All of our items are designed and created by me, Christy. I'm the founder and owner of Laser Cuts and Curios and I put all my love and care into each and every item I make. I live and work in Salem, Oregon where I'm surrounded by nature everyday and you'll see that influence in my designs. I hope you love everything you see as much as I loved making it.

How it’s Made

Each design starts out as a sketch of an idea. I recreate that sketch in Lightburn, the software that controls the laser engraver. I choose the appropriate sheet of wood, enter the pre-tested settings into Lightburn for the wood that is being used and start the laser. The laser not only engraves the design but also cuts the item out of the sheet of wood. I inspect the engraving and cuts for any defects or rough spots. Any rough spots get sanded until smooth. If any significant defects occur I adjust settings and remake it until it's right. If it's a multi-layered piece, like frames, I carefully glue the layers together and clamp it together until the glue dries.
